Sanders Announces Huge Fundraising Haul

“On the eve of the Iowa caucuses, Bernie Sanders’s campaign will announce that it has raised $20 million over the last month, an enormous haul that backs up the campaign’s assertion that it will have enough money for a long, hard-fought nominating fight against Hillary Clinton,” the New York Times reports.

Politico: “More than 770,000 people gave to the Vermont senator’s bid in January, with online contributions averaging just $27, the campaign said. And Sanders has so far received more than 3.25 million contributions — more than any presidential campaign at this point in the cycle ever.”

Sanders: No surprise 'establishment' Washington Post doesn't like me

"I am not greatly beloved by the economic establishment, by Wall Street, by the big money interests, or by the major media of this country including the Washington Post," Sanders said on CNN's "State of the Union."

The editorial, published last week, said Sanders is peddling "fiction” to progressive voters.

“Mr. Sanders is not a brave truth-teller,” the editorial stated. "He is a politician selling his own brand of fiction to a slice of the country that eagerly wants to buy it."

Sanders said on Sunday he's being attacked because he's too ambitious, noting campaign proposals to expand Social Security and reform healthcare.

Bernie Sanders Campaign Signs Up More Recruits in Tampa

Zach Exley has been working for the Bernie Sanders campaign since last July as a senior adviser on digital operations. He previously worked on campaigns for Howard Dean, John Kerry, and Barack Obama‘s 2008 effort, but says they all pale in comparison to what the Sanders campaign is doing this cycle with phone volunteers.

Speaking at the North University Area Community Development Center in Tampa Saturday morning, Exley said, “This calling program is literally a hundred times bigger than anything any campaign has had at this stage of the campaign.”

“I know,” he added, “because I worked on this same program for Obama in the ’08 general election, and our numbers are bigger than what we had every day.”

A month ago, Sanders organizers began coming to places like Tampa for the first time to start recruiting supporters to volunteer their time to contact voters in Iowa and New Hampshire. Exley says now tens of thousands of people are making calls every day, with an average of 100,000-200,000 per day. That’s barely scratching the surface, he said, which is why Exley and an assistant were in the Tampa Bay area on a three-day, five-city campaign to recruit more people to host phone bank events at their homes or offices. Their goal is to reach voters in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada and the states that will vote on March 1, also known as Super Tuesday.

Report: Clinton, Sander Campaigns Agree To Attend 4 More Debates

The Democratic presidential candidates have agreed to add four events to the debate schedule if the Democratic National Committee sanctions them, BuzzFeed news reported Saturday.

While the dates and locations have are not yet settled, representatives for both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders said they are planning on four additional debates, including one as-yet unsanctioned Feb. 4 debate in New Hampshire, hosted by MSNBC and the Union-Leader newspaper.

Separate negotiations between each campaign and the DNC are ongoing, according to BuzzFeed’s sources.
