WaPo PA poll confirms for me it is about much more than the economy, stupid

The poll has Harris +1 at 48-47

What jumps out at me is this:

Overall, Pennsylvania voters have a dour view of the national economy, with 66 percent saying it is either “not so good” or “poor,” while 33 percent say it is either “excellent” or “good.”

They have a more optimistic view of their own financial situations, with 60 percent positive and 37 percent negative.

Among voters who say the economy is bad but their pocketbooks are okay, Trump leads by 34 percentage points.

Feels like white people tying themselves in knots to justify their vote for Trump.

Not that we shouldn’t keep hammering away at our economic message, which is very strong, but the path to victory would seem to lie elsewhere.

Musk is playing assassination provocateur again

President Harris needs to do a relationship re-set with him next year.

So Trump is exposed as an empty vessel while getting his ass kicked in a debate

And by the end of the week the big news is imaginary migrant atrocities and his potential new squeeze.

Also known as how we got here.

Tim Walz was so good at Grand Rapids yesterday

that the overflow crowd went nuts when he greeted them afterwards.

He made great use of the debate in his speech; VP Harris could not have chosen a more effective advocate. Even for him, his passion level was off the charts. The whole speech, which includes a typically fiery, humorous and genuinely affectionate intro from Gov. Whitmer, is here:

As a teacher, let me help you out with these faces:

1. That's right fool, dig that hole
2. Seriously?
3. WTF?
4. There's ridiculous & then there's whatever nonsense that is
5. No, seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you?
6. Say what?
7. Damn, you are stupid
8. I will end you
9. Bitch, please
10. Just STFU already

An NYT commenter: For the "we need to know more about her policies" crowd

This is not a contest between Harris and Trump as much as it’s a national referendum on who the American people are.

Do we care about the rule of law?

Do we care about division?

Do we care about bigotry?

Do we care about the environment?

Do we care if a candidate is a felon?

Do we tolerate being constantly gaslighted and lied to?

Do we care about the social fabric?

Do we care about others?

Do we understand that diversity is a benefit?

Do we care about personal autonomy?

Do we want this nation to be a right-wing Christian autocracy?

Do we understand what’s at stake in November?

I am so sad that these questions remain unresolved.
