Nightmare. What does it mean?

A gigantic spider was chasing me across the lawn and I couldn’t get away. It was light brown and bigger than a football -- and long, spindly, crunchy legs to match. I was terrified. I would run backwards a few steps and it would advance, we’d do that dance again, I’d turn to run forward but it would run around me and cut me off. Then it jumped up on my shoulder and was battering me in the neck and face. I don’t remember being so scared in a dream for a long time.

Interpretations?

What's wrong with access to searching DU2?

I have tried for weeks to search DU2, and have received this message every time: "Error: Due to increases in traffic, advanced search is temporarily unavailable."

Why? Can we get it fixed, please?

Thanks.

Harms Man or Helms Man -- did you have a bakery truck in your neighborhood?

We had the Helms Man. He came around the neighborhood like the ice cream man. He had long, skinny, flat drawers in his truck and they held a magical thing: donuts! Donuts were always better from the Helms Man. I got a jelly donut.

I'm sure he carried bread and all sorts of things, but I only remember the donuts.

Did your neighborhood have a bakery truck?

Surgery is over. I am fine, but bitterly disappointed...

I chose having my gall bladder out over seeing my Halos play next month (not enough paid time off to do both). I'm in a fair bit of pain, but I have percocet, and it's helping.

I am deeply disappointed that we had to cancel our mini-vacation to Baltimore to see the Angels.

I appreciate those of you who weighed in on my "decisions, decisions" thread, as well as those who offered their support on facebook.

DU, besides being a great service to the liberal community, is a greatly supportive community, too. (And my thanks to the admins!)

think I might be a drunk

What do you suggest besides AA? I don't believe in some higher power. (Seriously, don't come back with AA. )

What are you doing this weekend?

Hi, Nostradammit

I didn’t choose the name of a movie. I chose a play on words.

I used to sing with a community chorus in Long Beach, CA. One rehearsal the director announced that the amounts we paid for our dues (which took the form of a donation to the chorus; one could choose one’s own amount) would be listed with our names in the next program. I rebelled, and the day before the program went to the printer, I asked the person overseeing the project if he would change my name to “Bertha Venation” * -- the first name that came to mind when considering a pseudonym -- in that section of the program. He did. Of course everyone in the chorus figured out that it was me (process of elimination), and I was henceforth known as Bertha Venation.

* “Bertha Venation” is the name of a drag queen in Harvey Fierstein’s play/movie “Torch Song Trilogy.”

Mrs. V.'s dad is moving to the nursing home today, and he doesn't know it

because he has advanced Alzheimer's.

Mrs. V. is heartbroken. She has never cried over her dad's condition, but she is crying now. She wishes desperately that she were in TN to take him to the home. Her mom will be alone for the first time in over 60 years.

Please keep Mrs. V. and Mamaw V. in your thoughts today. Thank you.

Dear god, I wish I knew of something to do for my beloved.

Drug testing for people on welfare?

My neighbor posted this on FB: "Thank you Florida, Kentucky and Missouri, which are the first states that will require drug testing when applying for welfare. Some people are crying and calling this unconstitutional. How is this unconstitutional????? It's okay to drug test people who work for their money, but not for those who don't? . . . Repost this if you'd like to see this done in all 50 states. If you can afford to buy drugs and extra illegal things then you can afford your own groceries."

I'm stumped as to how to answer this. All I could post in reply was "This assumes that everyone on welfare uses illegal drugs. This assumes that everyone on welfare is able-bodied."

What are your thoughts?

Do not read if your brain explodes at incredibly bad writing.

I know it's long and I don't blame you if you don't read it all.

Did you ever see "Mars Attacks?" This article is the yodeling to my Martian brain.

From a waste of bandwidth called baseballtvschedule.net

http://www.baseballtvschedule.net/2012/02/2012-los-angeles-angels-schedule/

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, as they are officially known as, are a baseball team in the Western Division of the American League in the MLB. The Los Angeles Angels were first formed together in 1961, in the current city they are in. Throughout the years, the team did experiment with the team name which became final in 2005, when the called themselves the Los Angeles Angels. One of the very first stadiums in the baseball industry was the Wrigley Field. The LA Angels played the Wrigley Field before moving into the Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The team players are easily spotted on the field, in their dark red uniform with Angels written across.

In 2002, the Los Angeles Angels won the World Series against the San Francisco Giants. It was there only World Series win and Pennant in their time at the MLB. From 1979 to 20011, the Los Angeles Angels won eight Western division titles, which is considered to be a good record. Most teams in the league have won just as much in longer periods. The ownership of the team was moved around frequently in the early years of the team, which resulted in many administrative issues for the team. However, today, things seem to have gotten in the right track for the Los Angeles Angels.

The 2012 Los Angeles Angels schedule indicates that the first game of the season will be played against the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of an exhibition game. There have been issues between the Angels and the Dodgers in the past, and it makes this one of the top games for people to see at the start. The spring training session will not really give us much of an indication of how things will work out, but it should be interesting to see how the new players perform. Not only does the team have rivalries but the fans do as well. Some of the top rivalry teams for the Angels include, the Dodgers, Yankees, Mariners and Rangers.

The Angel Stadium of Anaheim is a baseball field which was a football field for the St Louis Rams. The stadium was built in 1966, but it only went through modern renovations in 1998. The renovation that lasted between 1997 and 1999 ranked up costs to one hundred million dollars, which produced a very modern ballpark for the Anaheim district. The seating capacity at the stadium is about forty-five thousand with a couple hundred more spots for standing. If you haven’t checked out the 2012 Los Angeles Angels schedule, you should probably do so, to see the upcoming games and opponents.

Here are a few comments.

1. The Angels' standard uniform is white, not red. A few times a month, they wear red jerseys.

2. For the first thirty years of the franchise, the Halos had one majority owner: Gene Autry.

3. The third paragraph is hilarious.

4. The St. Louis Rams never played in Anaheim.

5. On edit: Oh, yeah, they got Wrigley Field right, but the Halos didn't play in the Wrigley Field that was one of "the very first stadiums in the baseball industry."

Disclaimer: I am a grammar nazi and a thoroughly biased Angels' fan.
