MarianJack's JournalA warning to those who have Netflix streaming and who love Christmas movies.
STAY AWAY from a piece of rightist propaganda baloney called "Christmas with a Capital C". It is nothing but a right wing piece of horseshit that was painful to watch. I didn't turn it off because, stupidly, I kept hopin that it would get better. It didn't.
I won't bore you with any details of the movie except to say that if you've seen any right wing e-mail pass-it-on showing either how the Godless heathens who believe in respecting the religious views of others see the "error of their ways" or where the mass of "good Krischin Amurikins" band together and make the heathens leave in shame while they sing hymns, you probably have the plot of this movie . Let me just say that I can only imagine the people responsible for making this pile of crap having a great big circle jerk every time they watch a fux news report about the "war on Christmas".
There are a lot of fun and enjoyable Christmas movies on Netflix, but boy howdy, this ISN'T one of them!
I'm also posting this in GD.

I want to apologise to an unnamed DUer for...
...sending what I think is the most outlandishly STUPID ASSED alert on them earlier this evening. I didn't notice my dumbass move until after I sent the stupid alert. Thankfully, the Jury WISELY let the post stand.

Last night we wached "The Artist" on Netflix streaming.
I also posted this in the Netflix group.
My wife and I heartily recommend it.
For a little background, I love silent movies. The introduction of sound into the movies did not advance an art form as much as it ended one form and gave birth to another and many fine actors and actresses had their careers ruined, either because their voices weren't particulary good or because they didn't speak very good English, if any.
As one who has seen MANY silent Movies, I can say that "The Artist" does quite well in duplicating the spirit of many of these movies. I can also say that it seems very faithful to the mood that my parents have told me of the late 20s & early 30s.
We also believe that the movie was certainly deserving of it's many Oscars.
If you're the type of movie fan that is furious that Jean Claude Van Damme has never been acclaimed as a great actor, you may not like it. Otherwise. try it out and enjoy!

I just watched "Koch Brothers Exposed" on Netflix.
I also posted this in GD.
It shows just how malignant an influence these bastards are in our country.
I won't comment further except to say that you should watch it and draw your own conclusions.
I would say that they are a pair of walking turds, but I have too much respect for turds!

An apology to America from Winthrop, Maine.
Of course, if I were a part of willard's campaign, I may have said that this was an apology to "Amercia", but if I were with willard's campaign, I'd never have had a brain that thinks this way.
I, who lives in a state that voted for President OBama, re-elected 2 house members, elected a new Independent/little "d" democrtaic senator, voted for Marriage Equality, gave both houses of the State Legislature to the Democrats to reign in our teabaggergovernor, elected a potential future Democratic woman governor as the DA of my home district and had a pretty danged good election for our side, would like to apologise to America for the horse's ass of a republican/teabager party chairman charlie webster.
webster, in his little pea-brained "wisdom", looked at this 97%+ white state and decided to raise an issue about African Americans voting and defended himself against charges of being the racist dipshit that he is by saying, essentially. that some of his best friends are black. Uh, charlie, that's what bigots said 50 years ago to show that they supposedly weren't bigots.
Remember, as charlie webster oozes off into the sunset (which in his mind is probably in the East) is the guy who did such an obviously clumsy job of stealing his party's February caucus for willard over alternative loon ron paul. He then had a state party convention that was such a disaster that it made the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago look like a love-fest. I would say that the man is a walking turd, but I don't want to insult turds.
Thank God that we in Maine will be rid of his moronic influence very soon. Unfortunately, knowing the republican/teabagger party, I dread what they'll put in his place.
That's my 2 cents, and quite possibly overpriced at that!

A story to share with all DU parents.
I also posted this in the parenting forum.
If you haven't been throgh this yet, don't worry, you will; you WILL.
My son is an great kid. He's 12 & 1/2 and looks like a young Denzel Washington. Last Saturday he went on his first date. He and a girl his age who've been both friends and foes since 2nd grade went to see "Taken 2" and then to Barnes & Noble for cheesecake. I'd seen the young woman at school and the library a number of times, but I only just actually met her when we picked her up to go so I could take them to the movie. She's a very pretty and very intelligent young woman and I was very impressed with her.
I stood in line with them just in case I had to tell the ticket seller that the girl's parents, as well as my wife and I approved of them seeing a PG13 movie. After that I didn't see them until my wife and I met them at B&N.
As with any parent, I'm proud of the new advances my son makes and I'm also heartbroken by what's being left behind. I'm proud of how my son followed every single rule we teach him about respect for women and how to act on a date and about just being himself. We also miss the baby, toddler and little kid as we a the young man developing in their place.
Don't get me wrong. At 12, there are still more times than not that I just want to knock him through the floor, especially when he just drops things at his ass when he could have just as easily put them where they belong 8 inches away. Still in all, my wife and I are proud of him and very happy that his first date was a success. I know that they want to do it again soon.
I just thought i'd share this with my fellow parents in the DU community. As I said at the beginning, if you haven't gone through this yet, you will!
