Ukraine’s energy minister said Sunday that power supply has been restored at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which Russian troops have occupied since late February.

Ukrainian government officials had said Wednesday that damage by Russian forces had “disconnected” the plant from outside electricity, leaving the site dependent on power from diesel generators and backup supplies.

In a post on Facebook, Ukraine’s energy minister, Herman Galushchenko said that the plant was no longer on backup power and had resumed operating under normal conditions. He praised Ukrainian power engineers for risking their lives to “avert the risk of a possible nuclear catastrophe.”

My how things have changed...

Today Ukraine's President did multiple Zoom calls that were broadcast to major Euro cities around the world and tens of thousands of people showed up to watch them. Tomorrow he does one to talk to the United States Senate.

Just think about that for a bit. You can use a frickin cell phone to broadcast live around the world. Take that Putty Poot.

The Ukraine disinformation has begun...

I just got off the phone with an old friend (who's always been a hard-right ideologue), and when I asked him what he thinks about the Russian Invasion of Ukraine he informed me that there is adequate evidence that it is not Russia behind the invasion based on what he has been reading.

Ransomware group exploits Parler's hands-off approach to shake down victims

Source: dailydot.com

The ransomware gang previously ran accounts on Twitter and Tumblr.

A well-known ransomware gang is now using the social media platform Parler in order to aid its extortion efforts.

The cybercrime group, which joined the conservative-leaning website on Jan. 11, has already posted the name of one medical equipment company that it claims to have hacked.

The discovery was made this week by Brett Callow, a threat analyst with the cybersecurity firm Emsisoft.

I feel for the victims regardless.

Lin Wood Goes Off the Deep State Deep End, Accuses Trump Lawyer Sidney Powell and Stop the Steal of

Source: RollingStone

“After doing the research and connecting the dots, I have reached the conclusion that the Stop the Steal organization is a Deep State organization to raise money for purposes other than to FIX 2020,” Wood posted on his Telegram

Wood has been ... making wild claims without evidence. Over the past few days, he has shared increasingly outrageous claims on his Telegram and turned on pro-Trumpers who used to be his allies, including Sidney Powell, Sebastian Gorka and Michael Flynn.

US Republican Rep Greene says 'no one cares' about Delta variant

US Republican Rep Greene says ‘no one cares’ about Delta variant

Congresswoman’s allegations highlight how COVID-19 has been politicized in the United States.

A controversial rising star in the United States Republican Party, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has tweeted comments dismissive of the threat from the Delta variant of COVID-19 as President Joe Biden, a Democrat, pushes for greater acceptance of vaccines in the US amid a newly rising death toll in some areas.

“No one cares about the Delta variant or any other variant,” Representative Greene, a newly elected member of Congress from Georgia, said in a string of tweets she called a “message from America to the Swamp” unleashed on July 5.

“They are over covid & there is no amount of fear-based screaming from the media that will ever force Americans to shut down again,” Greene said.

I maintain a topical news feed on all things COVID and reading the recent news articles on the Delta variant has me very worried, especially when I read stuff like this.

Brace yourselves friends. I fear we have some rough spots ahead.

Boehner: 'Republicans have to go back to being Republicans'

CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/18/politics/john-boehner-republican-party-cnntv/index.html

Former Republican House Speaker John Boehner on Sunday urged his party to return to its traditional principles, saying a focus on things like fiscal responsibility and strong national defense are key to winning back control of Congress in upcoming elections.

“You know, what I’ve suggested here over the last several months is, Republicans have to go back to being Republicans. Focus in on the principles of what it means to be a Republican: fiscal responsibility, a strong national defense,” Boehner told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.” “They can lay out half a dozen principles that I think will help bring our party together, which is really what’s going to be necessary if we’re going to have a chance to take back the majority in 2022 or 2024.”

Sorry John, But the #GOPsurrender is now complete and unalterable.

A damn fine man imo...

Tom Brady Sr. was the coach on my son's first little league team in San Mateo, CA. I have not met many people with Tom's qualities in my life. Years later, I was not at all surprised to turn on my TV to watch a Raiders game and see his son "Tommy" #12, as the opposing quarterback. And of course young Tom Jr. was an absolutely amazing ball player.

That was a good year.
