Recommended reading: "The Man" by Irving Wallace

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051GZIQE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0051GZIQE&linkCode=as2&tag=thepabsungeni-20

I just re-read this the other day. Sadly, it's out of print except for Kindle and audiobook formats, but for those of you who can read such formats (or those who don't mind hunting down a used copy) it's worth the read.

Publisher's synopsis:

The time is 1964. The place is the Cabinet Room of the White House. An unexpected accident and the law of succession have just made Douglass Dilman the first black President of the United States.

This is the theme of what was surely one of the most provocative novels of the 1960s. It takes the reader into the storm center of the presidency, where Dilman, until now an almost unknown senator, must bear the weight of three burdens: his office, his race, and his private life.

From beginning to end, The Man is a novel of swift and tremendous drama, as President Dilman attempts to uphold his oath in the face of international crises, domestic dissension, violence, scandal, and ferocious hostility. Push comes to shove in a breathtaking climax, played out in the full glare of publicity, when the Senate of the United States meets for the first time in one hundred years to impeach the President.

The hatred and racism leveled against Dilman in this book is only shocking in how much more open it is than what we see thrown at President Obama today. In the intervening decades, the racists have learned how to mask their bigotry slightly better.

Genocide Stage 6: Preparation

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/russian-parliament-working-on-bill-to-return-gays-normal-life-via-free-ex-gay-therapy/politics/2013/08/26/73879

Vladimir Putin‘s war on gays just got worse. In addition to the law Russia‘s president signed in June banning any public show of support for LGBT people, now the parliament of Russia is working on a bill that would offer free “ex-gay” or “reparative” therapy on gay people. So-called “ex-gay therapy,” and the larger class of SOCE — sexual orientation change efforts — have been shown to be largely at best ineffective and generally harmful. Every major medial association has condemned the practice as harmful.

The “therapy” supposedly would be anonymous and voluntary. But given Russia’s current war on the LGBT community, how long would it be before the government-sponsored “ex-gay therapy” became not voluntary, but mandatory? Would those convicted of violating Russia’s “homosexual propaganda” laws be “offered” the option to undergo harmful conversion therapy in lieu of a jail sentence? The mind reels at the possibilities.

...

As Russian LGBT journalist Masha Gessen and many others have noted, Putin and Parliament are reportedly also working on a bill that would allow the Russian government to remove all children from LGBT and same-sex parents. Gessen is moving to New York to escape the possible removal of her children.

Wake up, people. It is "again." We still have time to stop this new holocaust, but since some people here still think that the persecution of LGBT is "horseshit" and a "revolting little political game" one has to wonder if we have the political will to do so.

Coke and McDonald's to LGBT: Drop Dead.

Joe.My.God. has the official announcements from Coke and McDonald's on the Sochi Olympics. I love how they basically say "we love our LGBT customers, however...."

Coke:

We have long been a strong supporter of the LGBT community and have advocated for inclusion and diversity through both our policies and practices. We do not condone human rights abuses, intolerance, or discrimination of any kind anywhere in the world. As a sponsor since 1928, we believe the Olympic Games are a force for good that unite people through a common interest in sports, and we have seen firsthand the positive impact and long-lasting legacy they leave on every community that has been a host.

McDonald's:

There’s no room for discrimination under the Golden Arches. McDonald’s welcomes 69 million customers around the world every day representing different races, nationalities, religions, genders, ages and sexual orientations. McDonald’s supports the spirit of the Olympic Games and its ability to unite the world in a positive and inspirational way. We’ve been a proud sponsor of the Games for 37 years. Regarding the recent Russian legislation, we support the International Olympic Committee’s belief that sport is a human right and the Olympic Games should be open to all, free of discrimination, and that applies to spectators, officials, media and athletes.

Teenage rape victim ordered to pay child support to his rapist

http://livewirereview.com/pay-child-support/?utm_source=taboola

A 15-year-old boy who was raped by a 34-year-old woman now faces child support in Nebraska.

This is the case for now 19-year-old Jeremy Steen, of Lincoln, Nebraska. In 2008, Steen was seduced and raped repeatedly by his 34-year-old baby sitter Linda Kazinsky. Sources testified that the sexual abuse took place weekly for nearly 3 years. After police were alerted, Ms. Kazinsky was arrested and charged with statutory rape and false imprisonment.

...

Jeremy had his day in court and was ordered to pay $475 a month in child support to Linda Kazinsky as well as a whopping $23,000 in back Child Support payments.

With genocide, stage 5 of 8 has been reached. Only three remain.

Stage 1: Classification.

Russia Anti-Gay Bill: Russia Passes Radical Family Values Bill While President Announces Divorce On TV

Stage 2: Symbolization.

Russian Gays Forced To Drink Urine And Beaten As Part Of “Cure” By Nationalist Thugs

Stage 3: Dehumanization

Dmitri Kisilev, Russian Official, Degrades Gays On National Television

Stage 4: Organization

Russian vigilantes are videoing the kidnapping, beating and torture of young gays

Stage 5: Polarization

Russian lawmaker: Gay activists must die for 'extremism'

All that is left are:

Stage 6: Preparation.
Stage 7: Extermination.

Only 6 and 7 remain, because a healthy chunk of people, or at least posters here on DU, are already at Stage 8: Denial.

It's not too late to stop this.

"Alert doesn't work for fags."

That was how the anti-gay moderation from 2009-2011 was best explained.

Today, it looks like it's still the case.

August 11, 2013

I'm done with GD.

No point trying to discuss anti-gay genocide there, and another 0-6 alert on a homophobe underlines the fact that those who don't toe the sit-down-and-shut-up line are not welcome there.

I'm going to stick to hanging out in here for a while.

Can anyone truly deny we're on the path to a new Holocaust?

Now we're moving from simple scapegoating and oppressive laws to the denial of the status of humanity for LGBT in Russia.

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/gay-peoples-hearts-unsuitable-for-life-says-head-of-russias-state-controlled-tv-news/politics/2013/08/10/72922

On “Vesti,” Rossiya 1?s top news show — which airs all across Russia every two hours – Dmitri Kisilev told his fellow Russian citizens that the hearts of LGBT people are “unsuitable” for life.

Referring to Putin’s new anti-gay laws, Kisilev can be seen in the video below stating vehemently, “I think that just imposing fines on gays for homosexual propaganda among teenagers is not enough.”

In his hate-filled screed, Kisilev continues, saying gay people “should be banned from donating blood, sperm,” and adds that he believes “their hearts, in case of the automobile accident, should be buried in the ground or burned as unsuitable for the continuation of life.”

The less human you make your scapegoated group seem, the easier it is for the population to accept repression, terror, and eventually genocide.

It's starting again, people. Don't repeat the shameful acquiescence of the 1930's.
August 10, 2013

Some people REALLY can't handle the truth.

Don't the homophobes here know that the more they alert, and more they vote to hide, the more they prove our points?

There is a very vicious pocket of anti-gay members here, and all the denial in the world will not make it go away.
