Breitbart: Paul Ryan Pushing Fox News to 'Decisively Break' with Trump

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan, who currently sits on the board of Fox Corp., is reportedly urging Fox News to “decisively break” with President Donald Trump, according to a Thursday Vanity Fair report documenting the network’s “management bedlam.”

Vanity Fair’s Gabe Sherman, citing four sources, reported that Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch, who has long tried to move Fox News to the center, “is already thinking about how to position the network for a post-Trump future.”

Ryan, the longtime Trump antagonist, has reportedly been suggesting to Murdoch that “Fox should decisively break with the president” as Murdoch holds “strategy conversations with Fox executives and anchors about how Fox News should prepare for life after Trump.”

Anxious Biden Allies May Unleash Super PAC

New York Times

Allies of Joseph R. Biden Jr., concerned about his slipping poll numbers in the Democratic presidential primary and an onslaught of attacks from President Trump, are weighing whether to mobilize a super PAC supporting Mr. Biden and have held conversations with wealthy donors to gauge their interest in contributing money.

Mr. Biden and his campaign aides have said since the start of the race that they would not welcome an outside spending effort on his behalf, and every other major Democratic candidate has sworn off super PACs for the duration of the primary. A spokesman for Mr. Biden on Thursday reiterated that he opposed super PACs and would reject any such group that attempted to support him.

Yet several former staffers of Mr. Biden and political donors backing his candidacy have held conversations in recent weeks about moving ahead with a super PAC, and said Mr. Trump’s furious, and often unsubstantiated, allegations about the former vice president had convinced them it was imperative they act.

“For me, this week puts everything into stark relief,” said Larry Rasky, a former aide to Mr. Biden who is now a political fund-raiser and public relations executive. “And I was already thinking the campaign was being a little naïve about the resources we’d need to fight this.”

In the short term, the Ukraine story will give a boost to Biden among Primary voters...

Questions is: does it last?

White House Knew of Whistle-Blower's Allegations Soon After Trump's Call With Ukraine Leader

Source: New York Times

WASHINGTON — The White House learned that a C.I.A. officer had lodged allegations against President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine even as the officer’s whistle-blower complaint was moving through a process meant to protect him against reprisals, people familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

The officer first shared information about potential abuse of power and a White House cover-up with the C.I.A.’s top lawyer through an anonymous process, some of the people said. She shared the officer’s concerns with White House and Justice Department officials, following policy. Around the same time, he also separately filed the whistle-blower complaint.

The revelations provide new insight about how the officer’s allegations moved through the bureaucracy of government. The Trump administration’s handling of the explosive accusations is certain to be scrutinized in the coming days and weeks, particularly by lawmakers weighing the impeachment of the president.

Lawyers for the whistle-blower refused to confirm that he worked for the C.I.A. and said that publishing information about him was dangerous.

So this whole "boycott the New York Times" ranting is pointless...

Ukrainian leader bristles at release of Trump transcript

Source: AP News

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — The White House annoyed and embarrassed Ukraine’s president by releasing his comments in a private conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump — and may have violated the Ukrainian constitution.

The rough transcript of Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy released Wednesday shows that Trump pressed Ukraine to “look into” his Democratic political rival Joe Biden. The July 25 call is now at the center of a U.S. impeachment probe.

“I think such things, such conversations between heads of independent states, they shouldn’t be published,” Zelenskiy told reporters at the U.N. General Assembly in New York. He didn’t indicate whether the White House warned him that his comments would be released.

But he also said that “no one can pressure me.” He sought to play down the situation involving Biden and his son’s activities in Ukraine, calling it just one of “many cases that I talk about with leaders of other countries.”

Marriage rates down due to a shortage of 'economically attractive' men

New York Daily News

Sorry, guys, women are not saying “I do” because you’re not making enough dough. It’s even worse for African-Americans.

According to a new study by Cornell University professors cited by the National Council on Family Relation’s Journal of Marriage and Family, one reason marriage rates are down nationwide is because prospective husbands can’t provide enough financial security.

“One explanation for the declines in marriage is the putative shortage of economically attractive partners for unmarried women to marry,” according to the study conducted between 2012 and 2017.

The researchers compared the incomes of “potential" male spouses with those of men who married women of a similar demographic and found that guys who had not tied the knot earned 58% less than those who took a bride.

My we got married, we both had Government salaries. Doesn't seem to have been a problem.

Tracking Every Presidential Candidate's TV Ad Buys

FiveThirtyEight (live chart)

Huge buys for Steyer through the summer, marginal amounts from Biden, nothing for Warren/Sanders, nobody else doing much (I saw Bennet ads when I was in Des Moines and heard that Buttigieg was up on the air as well).
