Fourteen child plaintiffs and their families — including three from Central Texas — have filed the first federal lawsuit against Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath, advocacy group Disability Rights Texas said Wednesday.

The suit alleges the state’s executive order, which prohibits school districts from enforcing mask mandates, puts children with disabilities “at significant risk, is discriminatory, and violates the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act.”

According to the lawsuit, the order discriminates against students with disabilities and their rights to public education programs. Several of the plaintiffs, which have varying degrees of disabilities, could be at an increased risk of medical complications and death due to their underlying medical conditions, the lawsuit states.

Collapsed Surfside Towers Broke Building Code From The Very Beginning

For over a month, crews worked to recover survivors and then the dead from the collapsed Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida. The 98th and final victim was identified only two weeks ago. During the same period, forensic engineers have combed through the debris of the 12-story condominium tower, searching for the reason for the building’s sudden, catastrophic failure. Now a report in the Miami Herald based on interviews with engineers and construction experts has pinned the cause on multiple, extensive structural flaws that existed in the building for 40 years.

Any hominy/posole enthusiasts here? A question.

Is frozen pre-cooked hominy a viable substitute for canned hominy?

Any special treatment I have to give it before cooking?

I ask because a little while back I made a hominy/green chile/bacon casserole (with canned hominy) and it was so good I just couldn't get enough of it. But canned hominy just ain't that easy to come by. The frozen variety is available, though, but I'm a little leery.

Thanks.

The 29-year-old Springsteen was an alternate at the 2012 London Summer Games but failed in her bid to make the 2016 Rio Games.
