Xpost Many people are not familiar with their state's Reserve, Auxiliary & Special Police Officers.

They can learn more by first visiting http://www.reservepolice.org/Links.htm and clicking on their state to learn about its volunteer forces.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Posses

http://www.azleg.state.az.us/ars/23/00901.htm
(g) Regular members of a volunteer sheriff's reserve, which may be established by resolution of the county board of supervisors, to assist the sheriff in the performance of the sheriff's official duties. A roster of the current members shall monthly be certified to the clerk of the board of supervisors by the sheriff and shall not exceed the maximum number authorized by the board. Certified members of an authorized volunteer sheriff's reserve shall be deemed to be employees of the county for the purpose of coverage under the Arizona workers' compensation laws and occupational disease disability laws and shall be entitled to receive the benefits of these laws for any compensable injuries or disabling conditions that arise out of and occur in the course of the performance of duties authorized and directed by the sheriff. Compensation benefits and premium payments shall be based upon the salary received by a regular full-time deputy sheriff of the county involved for the first month of regular patrol duty as an officer for each certified member of a volunteer sheriff's reserve. This subdivision shall not be construed to provide compensation coverage for any member of a sheriff's posse who is not a certified member of an authorized volunteer sheriff's reserve except as a participant in a search and rescue mission or a search and rescue training mission.

LOL those who want to ban all firearms attack those who want no bans and vice versa.

The media just want to keep the fight going and sometimes publishes outright lies or carefully distorted truths.

I don't believe one set of federal laws will satisfy all needs, e.g. Wyoming's 600k citizens and crime ridden Chicago (2.7 million) and Detroit (700k) citizens.

I'm beginning to understand the debate about the upper limit on a "republic" that our Constitution promises "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government"

I've read a number of papers that suggest 200k might be the upper limit of a population that can self-govern a republic as a democracy.

FBI UCR shows violent crime rates go up rapidly as metro population increases, see http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2010/crime-in-the-u.s.-2010/tables/10tbl16.xls

OK, we can concentrate on handguns since they are used in about 50% of murders.

Next 44% of murders are committed by people who know each other.

Murder Circumstances by Relationship, 2010, Total 12,996

- Of which 5,657 (43.5%) by Husband, Wife, Mother, Father, Son, Daughter, Brother, Sister, Other family, Acquaintance, Friend, Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Neighbor, Employee, Employer,

- Of which 7,339 (56.5%) by Stranger, Unknown

Seems to me the first group (43.5%) may be amenable to one type solution and the second group (56.5%) another.

Don't know because I'm not a criminologist but I've enough experience to expect major problems that appear to be intractable can be solved in small pieces.

Rights preexist our Constitution and do not depend upon it. States acknowledge they're unalienable &

that means We the People cannot give them away.

Individuals for whom those rights are recognized as natural and inherent have compromised with Society by accepting limited infringement for the benefit of society but not infringement to the point of prohibition of an individual's right.

Agree, that's why I gave my wife, daughters, granddaughters revolvers and taught them to use them

for defense.

They all have CCW because every woman, anywhere-anytime, is a target for rape.

I would rather they live with the trauma of having to shoot an attacker, than live with the horror of rape.

Had a heart attack & died. Two guardian angeles with combat experience at my side within seconds,

paramedics within three minutes who wouldn't give up, an emergency room doctor and staff who finally got a heart beat, a heart surgeon who had already performed over 1,400 bypass operations, and after five and a half years I'm still on DU.

Couldn't go to sleep for the first month, afraid of not waking up.

Realized that one can't live like that and decided to live one day at a time.

Today when I awake in the morning, I KNOW IT'S GOING TO BE ANOTHER GREAT DAY!

I love all of you, friends and enemies.

Sounds like Sen. Kirk had an epiphany like mine.

Happy New Year to the World, jody woke up one more time.

Thanks. Problems and possibly solutions are different for cities with the highest

violent crime rate; i.e. 1. Flint, Mich., 2. Detroit, Mich., 3. St. Louis, Mo., 4. Oakland, Calif., 5. Memphis, Tenn.; and ranchers living in remote areas of Montana, Wyoming, et al.

IMO we should legalize marijuana and recognize LGBT rights. Federal govt. hasn't done that so please

join me in considering every possible way to make that happen.

Why should CA's 38+ million citizens be held hostage to a state with only 600k citizens with the same vote in the Senate to approve justices for SCOTUS?

Don't you want to find a solution?
