About Me

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.

There's always "Girl Friday."

Woman as property. Woman as container. Woman as incubator.

I'm sorry, but I think I have a little bit more to contribute than that. This woman is most assuredly a LOT more than that. As is every other woman I know or heard tell of.

This is what happens when one side doesn't vote as faithfully as the other side does.

We ALL have to vote! Seriously! Regularly and with relentless and unwavering dedication! We can't let a SINGLE opportunity go by! EVERY time there's an election, even if it seems inconsequential! Because today's County Commissioner could well be governor in ten years. And from governor, who knows how high one could climb? And EVERY election, there are issues to decide that affect LOTS of your fellow citizens, neighbors, friends, family, even you yourself.

Too busy to vote? It wasn't that important? Didn't feel like it? Didn't mark it on your calendar so you could arrange to go vote? You couldn't even send in an absentee ballot in advance, while you still had some time? I'm sorry, but fuck you!
People deciding that they're too pure and principled to vote for the lesser of two evils, are out of their freakin' minds!
People yowling that "both sides are the same!" and "there's no use, my vote won't matter" have their heads up their asses.

They're the same people who I bet will turn around one fine day and freak out at the way things are going, the backwards and upside down direction our country is lurching into, and what's been allowed to happen.

Like what we're living through right now, for example.

Don't let that be YOU. Don't let that be YOUR friends, family members, neighbors, colleagues.

VOTE, Dammit!

That sounds about right, my friend.

I appreciate that, Lars39. How do men think it feels to be female right now?

Woman as property.

Worse, woman as container.

To the CON-world, that's seems to be pretty much the prevailing opinion.

And I say that as a mother of two. But I am NOT merely a container. And that's not my sole purpose for being on earth. Evidently, there are many men who would disagree. Including the "just lie back and enjoy it!" crowd.

On edit - adjusting subject line. Sometimes I like to thank posters by name.

Nor me.

I'm liking this guy a LOT. And yes he's a novice but he seems to have GREAT political instincts, and he IS a practicing attorney. I think it might be a majority in the House and Senate who have a law degree and/or a lawyer's background on their resumes.

rove was a specialist in this shit. Learned ratfuckery at the knee of his mentor, Lee Atwater. And I believe he was also part of the "College Republicans" that had a chapter at his school when he was a young pup. The "College Republicans" is a cradle of ratfuckery. kkkarl rove would brag about leafleting neighborhoods where likely Democratic voters lived, and black likely Democratic voters, with reminders of an upcoming election, USING THE WRONG DATE for that election (usually a week later).

They sure did. If memory serves, he got hung up on a piece of paper that

apparently WASN'T the exact piece of paper with the actual key information on it. But he interviewed the secretary who worked for the military officer involved in the investigation. As I recall, he showed her the document and she said she didn't think that was the actual paper, but she DID remember typing it up and said the material spelled out ON that paper he showed her matched what she remembered typing up.

Dan Rather was fouled on a technicality. And they threw him to the wolves in order not to fall out of favor with bush/cheney. I lost interest in CBS News then, too. Kinda makes you look at something with different eyes, when a disaster like this happens. I still have faith in Dan Rather. I've been a fan of his for a long time.

Yep. That's exactly it.

She'd be shackled to her rapist for the rest of their lives. There could indeed be a chance - a strong chance - that the rapist would not only demand visitation rights, but some form of custody. And she'd be battling with him in the courts, in the social services, the works. It would be non-stop anguish.

Or the rapist could just disappear, and that STILL would leave her fully obligated to that child, unless she decides to put the baby up for adoption. Even then, though, the hurt, the degrading, the shaming, the psychological ramifications, the regret, the constant questioning of herself - DID SHE really bring this on? IS she the victim, or the predator? Yep, THAT'S what she'd face from judgmental outside observers everywhere. And heaven forbid she would need to seek public assistance. When these so-called "right to life" people also want their taxes cut, so they're more than happy to push for cuts in social services to needy people, families, and single heads-of-household.

This just sucks on SO MANY levels.

And if you get pregnant in the process, YOU MUST carry that pregnancy to term.

You have NO say in it, whatsoever. Besides, it's YOUR fault anyway.

In such a scenario, if there's a pregnancy carried to term, that grants the perpetrator a LIFETIME of domination over you.
