How Republicans could be a legitimate political Party?

Start anew.

Begin a Third Party with rational Republicans, Independents, and disenchanted "others". Break away from the criminal, white-nationalist Party that took over the Republican Party.

They could compete immediately with the Democratic Party, and the Trump Party would be dumped on the ashbin of history, where it belongs.

This is how they could save their Party, if they had the backbone and the courage to stand up to what is happening in their Party and in our country.

Republicans will never vote for Democrats as they are presently constituted. They need to find a middle road and take it. That is the only way they can save their Party. They must dump the extremists.

If Trump were subpoenaed to appear before the Select Committee?

How do you envision it would go?

Would he take the Fifth? Would he bring a bevy of lawyers with him?

Would he answer any questions or would it be mostly chaos?

What could the Justice Dept do if he refused to answer the subpoena?

Would Democrats take it easy on him?

Interesting scenario but I doubt it will ever happen.

Trump is running scared.

If we look at his language, from the examples of the last 5 years, we can hear the fear in his ramblings.

When he tries to explain his problems with his taxes, he doesn't deny them. He minimizes them. His political enemies are going after him. Look at all the "murder" and "sex traffickers" in the world and they are worried about a small case of tax fraud. What's wrong with rewarding your employees with a car or an apartment, he asks? Or paying their grandchildren's tuition to the best private schools? Everybody does it.

And why don't they tell us who murdered Ashli Bobbitt? A usual tactic of his, he is attempting to create an emotional, and possibly violent issue, to use later if he needs to threaten or to distract the authorities from his illegal activities. He will repeat it over and over for the next few weeks and months, until his base is ready to act upon it. Just like he did with the January 6th insurrection. He is a very adept practitioner of propaganda.

His primary concern at this time is staying our of jail. Also, he does not wish for anything to be publicly adjudicated. He will continue to blame others and spout his "whataboutisms" as a way to deflect from his criminal activities.

If another indictment falls, there will probably need to be an intervention.

Today feels like a new era is about to begin...

...where the truth actually matters.

Where lies have run out of steam.

Where the clouds of doubt and distrust are lifting.

Where everyone is accountable for their words and actions.

Where hate and division is put at the back of the line.

Where people respect each other.

(Maybe I should get out of bed, make some coffee, and see what DU thinks about it?)

The very minimum our justice system should do is prevent Donald Trump from ever holding office again

18 U.S. Code § 2383 - Rebellion or insurrection

Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Is there going to be a drip, drip, drip of indictments...?

...until the people finally reach a consensus?

Is Weaselberg just the first of several indictments to come?

To many Americans, the first indictment did not seem like such a big deal. Certainly not that threatening for Donald Trump. But what happens when the next indictment falls?

What if it is Don Jr or part of the Trump family? Do people then begin to pay more attention?

What happens when more and more illegalities are exposed and brought forth to the public?

Does it finally reach a point where the majority of folks begin to look at the head of the Organization?

Is that the danger for Donald Trump? If indictments are leaked out one by one until there is no doubt who was in charge?

Will the drip, drip, drip turn into a gusher?

"Why can't they just forget about it and move on?"

Surely that question must have been asked after the SC militia violently attacked the island fort from the shore?

It was April 12th, 1861 and the attack upon Fort Sumter. It was the beginning of the Civil War.

The Union was not about to forget about it. Their troops had been violently attacked. There had to be some accountability.

Is there a parallel to the attack upon our Capitol by militias and the Trump cult?

Perhaps? If we do not learn the lessons of our history.
