kentuck's JournalWhat is 'Moral Injury"?
In my opinion, Trump and the Republican Party have done "moral injury" to our nation.

<snip>
Moral injury is the damage done to ones conscience or moral compass when that person perpetrates, witnesses, or fails to prevent acts that transgress ones own moral beliefs, values, or ethical codes of conduct.
<snip>
Drescher et al. (2011) define moral injury as disruption in an individuals confidence and expectations about ones own or others motivation or capacity to behave in a just and ethical manner (p. 9). Litz et al. (2009) further describe moral injury as the inability to contextualize or justify personal actions or the actions of others and the unsuccessful accommodation of these . . . experiences into pre-existing moral schemas (p. 705). Shay (2014) emphasizes leadership failure and a betrayal of whats right, by a person who holds legitimate authority in a high stakes situation. Silver (2011) speaks of, a deep soul wound that pierces a persons identity, sense of morality, and relationship to society (para. 6).

Nothing is "illegal" in Trump World.
Standing on balcony at White House for campaign event.
Bringing in a military unit to protect him as he marches to a church for a photo op.
Ignoring the Constitution and emoluments clause to make money off his personal properties.
Bribing people and obstructing justice.
Promising pardons to keep witnesses quiet.
And on and on and on...
If no one holds him accountable, it is "legal".
If there is voter fraud, Trump will say, "I told you so".
If there are incidents of people mailing in their ballots and also, voting in person, there is no one to blame but Donald Trump.
Yet, you can bet that Donald Trump would blame someone else for the fraud. He is encouraging and promoting fraud in our elections.
Republicans are praying their vote is not suppressed.
They have been so busy trying to suppress Democratic votes, they have not had time to think about their own predicament.
Because if Republicans do not show up at the polls, it could be an electoral massacre for the GOP.
But, the truth of the matter is that Donald Trump has turned off a lot of traditional Republican voters. They simply cannot hold their noses and vote for him again. They are totally dependent on their rabid base.
Contrary to their usual practice of suppressing Democratic voters, this time around, they are most concerned about how much Donald Trump has suppressed their own voters.
Today, the temp here in CO is forecast to be 95 degrees.
Day after tomorrow, it is predicted to be a low of 27 with probabilty of snow.
Have you ever heard of such a drastic change in the weather?
If Trump loses the election, will he be able to convince his supporters that he won it?
Probably so?
Republican logic
They would rather stick with Trump and lose in a landslide and possibly wreck their Party, than to kick him to the curb and possibly save a little self-respect and viability for their Party, for the future.
If they are going to lose either way, you might think they would not want to go down smelling like a skunk?
Obviously, they do not know when to hold them and when to fold them.
They would prefer to go home with their pockets empty and not a modicum of respect.
