"No collusion! No collusion! No collusion!"

Well, there was collusion.

We knew it all along.

But today, it was validated by intelligence and the President of the United States.

Everybody knew that Paul Manafort was a snake in the grass and was working with the Russians to help pay off a huge debt that he owed them. No wonder he agreed to work as Trump's campaign manager for nothing. He had other ways of getting paid.

It is now painfully obvious that the FBI did not investigate strongly enough. Neither did the Special Counsel, Robert Mueller. The Russians were messing with our elections and the Trump campaign knew all about it. In fact, they were helping them.

Republican efforts to protect Trump and his traitorous gang do not look so sincere today.

Where does sedition end and treason begin?

Half As Much

Donald Trump is not the problem - the problem is the Republican Party.

Nicki Haley gave an interview where she said that what Donald Trump did was wrong. Furthermore, she said the Party could never do that again. Then, she said she would vote for Trump in 2024 if he was the nominee?? What the hell is wrong with her!

John Boehner has a book out right now which he is making the rounds and trying to sell. He was very critical of Donald Trump and the insurrection of January 6th. He acted as if he had found religion. Then he said he had voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020? What the hell!

Mitch McConnell gave a speech on the floor of the Senate. He came right out and said Donald Trump was responsible for inciting the insurrection of January 6th and that we had a justice system and civil courts that could handle the crimes he committed. This was after he voted to acquit him in his impeachment trial. For God's sake, if you believe he is that guilty, you do not acquit! What the hell!

Every Republican in the House and Senate knows that he incited the insurrection and is responsible for what happened in our Capitol. It was sedition. It was criminal.

Yet, they continue to support the incompetent loser.

Who is to blame?

Barack Obama is right!

We need to re-imagine how we do policing and public safety in this country.

In my opinion, there should be no white cops in these neighborhoods. If they cannot hire black policeman, then they would be better policing themselves.

If a white cop does enter the neighborhood, he should be unarmed and with a fellow black policeman, who could be armed for protection.

There are no easy solutions. But something needs to be done.

The black kids are afraid of the white cops and the cops are afraid of the black kids. That is an untenable situation.

Just my opinion.

Basically, Republicans cannot accept the truth and are out of touch with reality.

They cannot accept that there was a violent insurrection within the walls of our Capitol.

They cannot accept that it was incited by a sick and unstable president.

They cannot accept the damage that was done to our democracy.

They cannot accept reality.

They believe that there is no difference between lies and the truth. All that matters is what people can be persuaded to believe. They believe they are superior communicators and can make the majority believe their lies.

Basically, the future of our country is in the hands of the Republican Party. They have the power to preserve our democracy or to destroy it. You cannot make people believe what they do not choose to believe.

Eventually, we all have to agree upon a basic reality.

The Anthem of Vietnam "Hippies" in 1968

The "secret" to defeating and destroying the present Republican Party...

Of course, this is my opinion.

But, I believe the Democrats are not competing with the Republicans in the most effective way, politically speaking.

Rather than offering a sharp progressive contrast, Democrats should be offering the voters a choice that makes them look more sane than the crazies on the right.

In other words, they should try to appeal to the masses as the most moderate and sensible choice for all voters. (Of course, campaigning on any message is different from governing once you have won) That is a political reality. In Machiavellian terms, it doesn't really matter what you campaign on if it wins you the election. The only thing that matters is whether or not you win.

Democrats could run on the most moderate message ever and show such a contrast with the present Republicans that it would make it very difficult for any thinking Republican to vote for the present bunch now running their Party. Republicans maintain their credibility with their supporters because they are able to persuade their voters that Democrats are even more radical than their present Party leaders.

If the Democrats could change that paradigm, it would be devastating for the Republican Party at this time in our history.

But, don't hold your breath.

PS... I think Joe Biden is on the right track.

Does anyone in Washington, DC still read DU?

There was a time in the past when it was monitored by Congressional aides and assistants to glean any worthwhile ideas that might come from the "underground".

Does anyone know if that still happens or is most of the discussion now on DU just singing to the choir?

Does it serve any worthwhile purpose in regards to policy discussions?

Have we minimized ourselves into trivial pursuits?
