kentuck's JournalWhy is Iowa still "first in the nation" to vote for President?
I guess at one time they were considered to be sensible, moderate, middle-America that was representative of the nation at large?
Obviously, that is not the case anymore. They have shown themselves to be nutcases, easily manipulated and fooled by any charlatan that comes down the road, and are not deserving to be "first in the nation" to make the choice for President, in my humble opinion.
Perhaps they would be better suited to go last in choosing our President?
I suppose it is up to individual states to choose their caucus and primary dates but Iowa seems like a poor choice to be at the front of the line.
Trump and his Cult will not accept any election results where he does not win.
Heads they win. Tails you lose. They will not accept defeat.
What then? If they lose..?
Will they crawl back under their rocks? Will they look for a new Leader? Unless Trump is in prison, or has met his due reward, he will still be preaching violence and chaos. There will be no peace in our country.
If they win, then what?
Elected Republicans have shown every indication that they will do his bidding, whatever he wishes. If Trump wins and takes back the White House, what would that mean?
Would it mean that our Justice System has failed? That our electoral system has failed? That our media and "free press" has failed?
How much damage could be done if Trump is permitted back in power?
Tomorrow could be a very eventful day as appeals court hears arguments on presidential immunity

In August, a federal grand jury in Washington indicted Trump on four charges: conspiracy to defraud the U.S.; conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction; and conspiracy against the right to vote and to have ones vote counted. Trump pleaded not guilty.
Washington-based U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is presiding over the case, wants the trial to go ahead in March, which would allow it to be concluded well before the election, but Trumps appeal threatens that timeline unless courts act quickly.
(snip)
The court is hearing the case on an expedited schedule, so a ruling could come quickly. Whatever happens, the losing party is likely to immediately appeal to the Supreme Court. The justices would then face a decision on whether to take up the case and issue their own ruling, potentially also on a fast-tracked basis.
But the Supreme Court is not required to take up the case and could simply leave the appeals court ruling in place. If Trump loses the appeal and the Supreme Court declines to hear his case, then the trial could still move forward quickly.
Was January 6th the beginning of the Second Civil War?
They thought it would just go away. But three years later, it is still with us. I'm sure it was the argument that Trump made to Kevin McCarthy upon his journey to Mar-a-Lago. Just hang in there for two or three weeks and people will have forgotten about January 6th and will have moved on to another story.
What would a Second Civil War be about? At this stage, we would guess that it would be about preserving the Union once again. But, this time, it is about the fight for democracy over fascism. It seems to have progressed to that point.
We hear the leader of the Insurrectionists talk about Lincoln and the First Civil War. He believes he could have negotiated a settlement without going to war. He doesn't say what he would have done about the slavery issue? Further, he says Lincoln would have been just a passing name in history if he had done the job right.
Whether or not we are at the beginning of another Civil War, we do not know at this time. We only know that it is not going to disappear from history in its present context. Either the Truth or the Big Lie will prevail.
Hopefully, it can be resolved at the ballot box, without a violent war between the supporters of democracy and the supporters of fascism and victimhood.
A quote by Elvis:
Truth is like the sun. You can shut it out for a time, but it ain't goin' away.

To clarify, the only "hostages" from January 6th...
...were the Senators and Congress, and their aides, that were running for their lives, to keep from being kidnapped or murdered by a rampaging bunch of thugs, following the siren call of the Big Lie and their Cult Leader.
They were blockading themselves behind locked doors and were hiding in closets and under tables as the insurrectionists pounded on the doors, making murderous threats and calling names.
Those were the "hostages".
It is shameful and disgraceful to hear these MAGA traitors claim they are now "hostages" because they were caught and are being held accountable.
A question to ask all the MAGA Congressmen and Senators that won in the last election?
Do you think there was fraud in your re-election?
Evidently, they think their elections were fair and square?
It was only Trump at the top of the ticket that experienced the fraud?
The media could do a much better job questioning these phonies. They should turn the blow torches on their asses.
How could they possibly answer such a question honestly?
Did anyone watch FOX coverage on January 6th, 2021 ?
I am wondering just how much of the insurrection they covered?
They say Trump was off the Oval Office, in a small dining room watching FOX. How much did he actually see?
FOX has been known to not cover important events if they reflect poorly on their president or their Party.
Did they show the violence on that day?
Does anyone know what they chose to report?
A nation of laws or a nation of men?
We are a nation of laws unless you are MAGA men. Then the laws are obsolete and meaningless if they run counter to the wishes of the Cult Leader.
Most Americans believe that the laws that apply to you and I should apply to all Americans. But, that is not the way the MAGA Cult believes.
For example, if we engaged in the attack upon our Capitol with the intent of stopping the function of government and attempted to stop Donald Trump from becoming the next president, they would demand that we all be held accountable according to the 14th Amendment Section 3 of the Constitution.
If Joe Biden had done the same actions, and non-actions, of Trump, they would be singing an entirely different song. Joe Biden would be disqualified from ever running for office again and, most likely, would be in jail.
Are we a nation of laws or a nation of men? It depends on whether or not you are a member of the Cult. They believe themselves exempt from the laws and the Constitution.
