I am 50 miles from JFK in a Boeing 777, and ATC sends me to a holding pattern ..

ATC: "Pan World 123, hold southeast of NEPTUNE intersection, left turns, at 15,000 feet. Expect further clearance in 55 minutes."

Capt. DemoTex: "NY Center, Pan World 123, I understand hold NEPTUNE, left turns, at 15,000 feet. Sir, why are aircraft holding going into JFK?" ...

Assessing trump's moves and decisions - options, important questions to ask

I think it is important to remember the proper lenses through which to view the decisions trump makes on everything - legislation, key people in his administration - it becomes easy to forget a few key things.

It seems the pundits, and many people, forget the election, forget the Mueller probe and simply ask "what's in it for trump". I think that is too easy - that would be the question to ask if the idiot were NOT compromised....

Susan Collins is "Deeply Concerned" with an emergency declaration

I swear the media is just fucking trolling us now. Either that or they have major stock in Sony and are counting on the TV sales after people throw their morning coffee through the screen.

As soon as I heard the media "tease" that "some" Retrumplicans may not be onboard for this Constitution breaking shitshow... my "God she's such a fucking moron" Spidy Sense started tingling at the base of my skull that they were going to show a quote from Collins....

It's GOT to be BIG

I don’t know what the Russians have on Republicans currently in Congress, but it must be some really nasty shit. It’s got to be mind-bogglingly corrupt, astoundingly vile, and immoral beyond all imagining.

There is no other explanation for their behaviour. The GOP has always worked against the best interests of the nation and its citizens. But for the past two years, they have been working against the best interests of their own party – in fact, they’ve done things that have undermined the imagine it took them decades to carefully craft....

He's Too Dumb to Figure Out How Umbrellas Work, & We're Just Now Declaring a National Emergency?

You may recall in Monday night's blog, I commented that the news had been a bit on the slow side. The Gods apparently heard me, and decided to teach me a little lesson. Ah, hubris! Anyway, I wore out three different keyboards writing up tonight's post...let's dive in so we can get through this shit before the sun goes out.

Well, the last episode of Shower Cap ended right at the brink of the dueling Beto/Trump rallies in El Paso, so let's pick up where we left off. Of course, Government Cheese Goebbels, still reeling from a string of failures seldom seen since the fall of Rome, retreated to the comforting fantasy of imaginary crowd sizes, which I actually fully support. See, this way, when the REAL crowds show up, at the ballot box, he’s extra surprised and it hurts more....

Mitch proves to have exactly the same amount of backbone ...

that he has of chin.

None.

After warning Trump that declaring a "national emergency" in pursuit of his penis substitute .. errr ... border wall would be a mistake; McConnell asked Trump's permission to bring a bill to the floor. Receiving a go-ahead, he then rolled over on his back, asked for a tummy rub, and said that he would support Trump's imminent emergency declaration.

How can anyone continue to take the Republican party seriously at this point in time?

Octopus's Garden

One of my very favorite human beings and I were discussing boxing and politics today. We decided that I would attempt to write up some of our discussion into an essay for this forum. The above quote, from a book I read years ago, seems to connect with that conversation. While the United States seems to be spinning too close to out-of-control, we need to take time to tend our own gardens. That includes, when possible, taking time to hang out with different species – plant and animal – and to take in the healing properties of the life-force of Earth....

i like this Pete Buttigieg guy.

Just watched the segment of Morning Joe. He makes a lot of sense. He effortlessly and in a very friendly manner made Joe Scarborough look like an outdated demagogue. I felt as if Joe thought he was throwing all his gotcha questions at him and Buttigieg could not be got. Especially when it came to the question of "socialism" and "capitalism" - he resisted being pigeonholed with great skill.

I really like him. I don't know if he has a snowball's chance in hell of winning the nomination, but I am very impressed. Sadly most of the media will have Schultz on 10 times before they even mention Buttigieg's name (incredibly difficult name!). I hope that changes.
