This Rosenstein-Kavanaugh Overdrive Concert Sucks. I Want to Go Home.

Fuck, y’all. I am no longer equal to this moment. Today cries out for a monologue from Howard Beale, but like, a sweaty, WWF-style 'roid rage Howard Beale, screaming “I'm as mad as hell, and I'LL SEE YOU INSIDE A STEEL CAGE AT SUMMERSLAM!!!!"

What Kavanaugh and Judge did at Georgetown Prep is not unique to elite prep schools

I grew up in a small town in Connecticut and went to public school there. It was a mostly white working class/blue collar town at the time and I graduated HS in the mid 80s. Out of around 400 kids total in the high school, I doubt more than a dozen kids were non white. So, about 100 kids per class, and somewhere around 50/50 boys to girls. Today, the town still has the blue/collar and white working class element, but nowadays is a lot more diverse both racially and economically - just checking the numbers from the State Dept of Ed website, the high school now has somewhere closer to 550 kids and maybe 135/140 are not white and the town now has a white collar/middle class/upper middle class element as well) ...

Do this now!

https://www.vote.org/

At Vote.org, you can:

- Check your registration status (everyone should do this)
- Find your polling place (classic voter suppression tactic is to move precincts to lower turnout)
- Get an absentee ballot (especially if you are a student away from home or you travel a lot for work or you just like the convenience of absentee voting).
- Get election day reminders

I would also Google to see if your state has ID requirements if you plan to go to the polls. If so, get your ID in order.

Forget About The Polls They Can Lead To Complacency. Remember Hillary Had It In the Bag.

Polls can be misleading. It all comes down to who votes and who counts. And we must be aware of October surprises by the GOP. I won't rest or believe until we have spilled GOP blood all over the landscape in floods politically at the polls. The media is just too much hyping them. Plus if the polls get more favorable the media will just blast the Democrats to make it a too close to call election when they should be burying the GOP at every turn.

We have to run like bats out of hell like we are behind. We have to kill the Groper Old Party.

It's Political Correctness Gone Mad, Gone Mad I Tell Ya!

Male, pale and stale right-wing politicians ranting about the evils of political correctness as if it is somehow a bad thing is so tedious. There is a habit among the right to excuse any identification and condemnation of bigoted behaviour as yet another example of political correctness gone mad. Of course, the ‘accusation’ tends to come from those who have either forgotten, or never noticed, due to their position of privilege, how absolutely rotten the wider community can be to live and work in for everyone else. Any challenge at all to the predominantly male, predominantly white, privilege construct and the cry is immediate. It is political correctness gone mad, they say. Much easier to write off the challenge to their behaviour than to look at the underlying cause of their sexism, or nativism, or racism, or homophobia etc etc ...

In defence of Michael Moore...

Why is Moores's point that the only two parties with any political power forever and ever being at least somewhat beholden to corporate interests be controversial?

It is of course true that Republicans are very different in being openly tied to corporations and particularly Wall Street and banks and fossil fuel, etc. That they are corrupt and rotten through and through is obvious by now to the public. It is a very smart thing to make Republican corruption a top election plank. ...

Lots of misunderstanding around here about what Michael Moore is doing.

I have never agreed with everything Michael Moore says, but he is an unabashed progressive who has most always supported Democrats, wants the Democrats to win in November and is saying so LOUDLY AND CLEARLY, and hates Trump to his very core. He was out there protesting over Trump's Muslim ban and has fought very hard for progressive causes for decades.

The circular firing squad among progressives/Dems needs to be killed dead once and for all. Moore is out there right now, so importantly, telling EVERYONE on our side to get the heck out in November and VOTE VOTE VOTE as though our lives depend on it. ...

I am the father of a college student who was sexually assaulted in 2014

My daughter had just transferred to Penn State main campus in the fall of 2014 for her junior year. She went to a frat party her first weekend at school with 2 roommates.

She drank too much. At some point, she and her roommates split up and she found herself alone on the couch in the living room of the frat house. She was too inebriated to think straight. A young man told her he would walk her back to her apartment. Instead, he took her back to his and raped her. She got out of the apartment and managed to stumble back to her own.

In the morning, she had incomplete memories of what happened to her, and was too ashamed to tell anyone. She did not know the boy who did it, and in any case, she blamed herself. She was too embarrassed to tell me or her mom. ...

Watch the republican attempt to jam Prof. Ford into hearing Monday fall apart

...and recognize how full of shit the Monday deadline Grassley set for Dr. Ford was, and how self-defeating it's been to have apparent opponents of Kavanaugh, nonetheless repeating the republican demands like they're infallible and set in stone.

Republicans understand they need her to appear more then she needs them. They also must realize that proceeding without Prof. Ford's appearance before them denies them the opportunity to have Kavanaugh rebut the charges in the same forum as his accuser. ...

I was a rape victim 4 separate times by 4 different men.

I was a rape victim 4 separate times by 4 different men. I knew only 1 of them as a roadie for my brother's band. 1969-1971. I would have never told anyone, least of all my parents....they would have yelled at ME.....I have a photographic memory...but I could not tell you today the address of the house, the color of the room, what the man had on, what I may or my have not ingested, etc .....

So none of this is off kilter...you tend to block bad events and Trump is fucking nuts with that tweet this morning..

I want nobody's sympathy...it is almost 50 years ago. I am only telling you FACTS. You didn't tell the cops, your Mom and Dad, certainly not the FBI. I wrote a LTE about it 5 years ago.....first time I told anyone. The editor said I was brave. No, I was honest. It was time, it was a letter regarding abortion rights...and I had something to contribute.
