Abortion proves winning strategy for Alabama Democrat
(Politico) An Alabama Democrat who campaigned aggressively on abortion access won a special election in the state Legislature on Tuesday, sending a message that abortion remains a winning issue for Democrats, even in the deep South. Marilyn Lands won a state House seat in a rare competitive race to represent a district that includes parts of Huntsville. Lands, a mental health professional, centered her bid on reproductive rights and criticized the states near-total abortion ban along with a recent state Supreme Court ruling that temporarily banned in vitro fertilization.
A New Litmus Test for RNC Employees
(Political Wire) Those seeking employment at the Republican National Committee after a Trump-backed purge of the committee this month have been asked in job interviews if they believe the 2020 election was stolen, making the false claim a litmus test of sorts for hiring, the Washington Post reports. The question about the 2020 election has startled some of the potential employees, who viewed it as questioning their loyalty to Trump and as an unusual job interview question.
McDaniel eyes big payout after NBC drama ($600,000 and more for doing nothing)
(Politico) The ramifications of NBCs decision yesterday to part ways with former RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel just two days after her paid network debut on Meet the Press are just starting to shake out. But they could be expensive. McDaniel expects to be fully paid out for her contract two years at $300,000 annually since she did not breach its terms, according to a person close to McDaniel. That means that her single, not-quite-20-minute interview Sunday could cost NBC more than $30,000 per minute, or $500 per second.
Judge Merchan hits Trump with a gag order
(New York Times) The New York judge presiding over one of Donald J. Trumps criminal trials imposed a gag order on Tuesday that prohibits him from attacking witnesses, prosecutors and jurors, the latest effort to rein in the former presidents wrathful rhetoric about his legal opponents. The ruling comes on the heels of Justice Merchans setting an April 15 trial date, rejecting Mr. Trumps latest effort to delay the proceeding. It will mark the first criminal prosecution of a former American president.

Said Lyman: This is what happens when you have Governors who prioritize diversity over the wellbeing [sic] and security of citizens.
Trump campaign says it will deploy 'soldiers' to polling places
(Raw Story) The Trump campaign says it plans to change tactics from 2020 when Joe Biden beat the then-incumbent president by more than 7 million votes, and this time go on "offense" by having "soldiers" and "poll watchers" at polling places. "We're not going to play defense, like we unfortunately did in 2020. We're going to have soldiers, poll watchers on the ground who are making sure that there are no irregularities and fraud like we saw in the last election."
Trump is leading a 'top-down conspiracy against the constitutional order': Ex-GOP insider David Frum
(Raw Story) David Frum, a former Republican insider who worked as a speechwriter for President George W. Bush, put former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election in stark terms on Wednesday. "We haven't seen a top-down conspiracy against the constitutional order since the 1860s in the United States," he said. "And so... it feels new because it's so old and a lot of people are baffled."
Trump Goes on Bizarre Rant About 'CROOKED JOE BUDEN' Who 'DISINFORMATES AND 'MISINFORMATES' About Obamacare
(Mediaite) The former president and presumptive Republican nominee seems to think that word is out that he would terminate the Affordable Care Act, because thats precisely what he ran in 2016, tried to do in his four years in the White House, failed to accomplish and has vowed to attempt again if he is re-elected. But Trump is blaming President Joe Biden or some mythical figure named CROOKED JOE BUDEN in his social media post, whom he claims DISINFORMATES AND MISINFORMATES ALL THE TIME.
