Trump will give healthcare workers the right to refuse to treat LGBT people

(LGBTQ Nation) The administration has officially announced the formation of a new division intended to allow healthcare providers to discriminate against LGBT people and women seeking an abortion.

The Trump administration is considering a new “religious freedom” rule that would allow healthcare workers to refuse to treat LGBT patients. The move would also allow workers to deny care to a woman seeking an abortion or any other service they morally oppose.

Roger Severino, the head of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights, has actively opposed civil rights protections for minority communities. In his previous role as Director of the DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society for the conservative Heritage Foundation, Severino spoke out against the regulations he is now tasked with upholding.

Mortal Again: Christie Blocked at VIP Entrance to Newark Airport

(Bloomberg) Meet Chris Christie, former New Jersey governor and current nobody at Newark Liberty International Airport.

The two-term Republican, who left office on Jan. 16, was blocked from a VIP entrance he had used for eight years, and directed to stand in Transportation Security Administration screening lines at Terminal B like anyone else, according to a person familiar with the incident.

The order came from police for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, according to the person, who wasn’t authorized to speak publicly about security matters. The Port Authority also operates the George Washington Bridge, the target of a plot by Christie aides and allies to tie up traffic for political punishment in 2013.

Hungarian Police Have A Warrant Out For Former Trump Advisor Sebastian Gorka

(Buzzfeed) Former Trump White House staffer Sebastian Gorka has an active warrant out for his arrest in his native Hungary, according to the Hungarian police's website.

Gorka, whose exact role in the White House while serving as a deputy assistant to the president was never entirely clear, apparently is in trouble with the law over a charge of "firearm or ammunition abuse." The warrant, first reported in Hungarian online outlet 444, was issued on September 17, 2016, prior to Trump's election.

That means that the entire seven months Gorka spent in the White House, including when meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in Washington last March, an arrest warrant was pending overseas.

Majority Of Americans See Trump's First Year As A Failure

(NPR) As President Trump approaches the one-year anniversary of his inauguration, a majority of Americans think his first year in office has been a failure — and that he's divided the nation.

A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds that by a 53-to-40-percent margin, Americans deemed Trump's first year a failure. And by an almost 2-to-1 margin (61 to 32 percent), Americans said they believe Trump has divided the country since his election.

Goodbye lunch: Internet barfs after Stormy Daniels claims Trump told her she was just like

(Raw Story) In addition to claiming that sex with President Donald Trump was “textbook generic,” porn star Stormy Daniels is also claiming that the president once compared her favorably with his own daughter.

The Daily Beast has seen a preview of a massive 5,000-word interview that Daniels conducted with In Touch Weekly in which Daniels reveals details of the affair she had with Trump back in 2006, just months after wife Melania Trump had given birth to the couple’s son, Barron.

“We had really good banter,” Daniels says at one point in the interview. “He told me once that I was someone to be reckoned with, beautiful, smart, just like his daughter.”

Air Force Psychiatrist: Trump Shouldn't be Allowed Anywhere Near a Nuclear Weapon

(NYT) As a psychiatrist for the United States Air Force, one of my responsibilities was evaluating the mental stability of airmen who handled nuclear weapons, using the standards laid out in what is called the Nuclear Personnel Reliability Program. There is no need to justify why our military would take every precaution necessary to ensure that the men and women in uniform handling nuclear weapons were fit to do so, whether they were in charge of a missile silo or loading nuclear bombs onto aircraft — or giving the orders to them, on up the chain of command. Strangely, the commander-in-chief, the one who would decide when and how to use those weapons, is the only individual in the chain who is not subject to the ongoing certification under the program.
