Did I miss the "Do Republicans risk making total asses of themselves" at Mueller hearing stories?

Because all I see are "Do the Democrats risk overplaying their hands?" and "Will the Democrats perform absolutely perfectly in every way and if they don't, how much self-inflicted damage will they suffer?" stories - even though we all know the Republicans are going behave like complete fools, and do their best to turn the hearing into a circus and preventing the public from gathering any information.

Did I miss all the stories putting any responsibility on or raising questions about the Republican committee members?

Well, If Stephen Miller Says it's Not Racist, I Guess That's That.

So, The Trump 2020 reelection effort has just two messages at the moment: LOOK AT HOW RACIST I AM, AIN'T IT GREAT and HOW DARE THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA CALL ME RACIST. I can see how this might seem confusing, but if you take a minute to think about it, you'll remember that not one fucking thing has made any fucking sense for two and half fucking years now...does that help at all? No? Oh well.

Operation: No Racist Bones Not Even the Tiny Ones in My Inadequate Hands kicked off in earnest with Pumpkin Spice Pol Pot retweeting famous British hate-monger Katie Hopkins. Hey Dotard, pro tip: in this particular debate, you might want to limit your social media circle to just people who haven't literally called for a sequel to the FUCKING HOLOCAUST only for Muslims this time....

Love it or Leave it...thoughts from a Veteran!!!

Ask the Apache, Creek, Chickasaw, etc. Ask the native Eskimo or the native Hawaiian. Ask those from Guam, Puerto Rico , Virgin islands, America Samoa. Ask those in the south western U.S. from Texas to California whose heritage is Mayan/Mexican. Ask the Jewish community. Ask the Muslims whose heritage in this country is older than the U.S. Ask the African who was brought here against his will and brought his culture with him. The TRUTH is, we are and always have been a country of many people of diverse cultures, languages, and religions. This is the country I swore an oath to support and defend. We HAVE NEVER been a "white Christian" nation. If you can not understand or wish to ignore our vast and diverse history, I guess you can love it or leave it.

Being a responsible citizen should not be a full time job.

We have never had a government before that encouraged us to live in fear of it. We have always had the (naive?) comforting expectation that, whoever was in the White House, they would try----most of the time--- to operate within the boundaries that took a couple of centuries to establish. And, when the POTUS failed or refused to color within the lines imprinted by our democracy, we could depend on Congress and the Judiciary to hold him in line.

I expect next to nothing in the way of "checking and balancing" from Congress as long as Mitch and the GOP maintain their stranglehold on the Senate....

H2O Man

Bloody Hands

I am, like everyone here, angered by Trump's tweets – and the words that spew forth from the puckered sphincter under his nose – about the four Democratic members of the House of Representatives. I recognize his intentions, as I'm old enough to remember seeing the results of such disgusting hatred before. I think we all know what happens when a sociopath fans the flames of division, fear, and hatred, and we know this isn't going to end well unless there is a strong intervention.

I remember that the 16th Street Baptist Church was being used by a group of American citizens in Birmingham as a center for planning their Civil Rights activities. A very little man named George Wallace was stirring a steaming pot of hatred along with the state's white hate groups. On September 15, 1963, four members of the Ku Klux Klan planted 15 or more sticks of dynamite at the church, killing four girls....

Music Man

Pete Buttigieg is probably the best Democrat I've ever seen at framing issues.

I am still undecided, because we have several excellent candidates, but Buttigieg is a master at seeing the terms of the debate and changing the prism through which any issue is viewed. He understands that conservatives won't change their long-held stated beliefs of religion, freedom, and security, so he seeks to redefine those terms as progressive. His belief that politics isn't local but personal is another brilliant new perspective that would get us out of a territorial approach to how we run local and state campaigns as Democrats.

Those who set the terms of the debate automatically win it....

I expect to be disappointed by the Mueller testimony Wednesday.

I would love him to say something that makes impeachment inevitable. That without qualifications, Trump broke the Law.

But I think it will be a measured and reserved recap of his redacted report, without an new revelation.
