Trump Says Roe's Demise 'Working Out Very Well'
(LA Mag) Former President Donald Trump took his boast about overturning Roe v. Wade to a critical swing state Tuesday, even as he was stuck in court in New York City. Appearing remotely before going into court for his election interference trial, Trump told Philadelphia's ABC6 that his administration "terminated Roe v. Wade." "When you look at it and you look at what's happening all over the country now, states are voting," Trump said. "Ohio just voted. All different by the way. It's tailor made, and it's really working out well for people and they're very, very happy."
Donald Trump Suffers Huge Vote Against Him in Pennsylvania Primary
(Newsweek) Donald Trump suffered a blow in the Pennsylvania primary on Tuesday, as tens of thousands of Republicans refused to vote for him despite being the presumptive GOP nominee. The former president won the primary race in the key swing state with 83.5 percent of the vote, amounting to more than 786,000 votes. However, Nikki Haley, who ended her campaign for the White House after Super Tuesday in March, still received 16.5 percent of the vote, equating to more than 155,000 ballots.
Biden scores major union backing as its leaders attack Trump
(CNN) Joe Biden will land a major union endorsement Wednesday from North Americas Building Trades Unions, whose leaders say the president has his infrastructure bill largely to thank for it. In making one of their earliest ever presidential endorsements, NABTU leaders are kickstarting an eight-figure organizing program to try to deliver their 250,000 members in the battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin for Biden.
Pelosi says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "should resign"
(CBS News) House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi said she believes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "should resign," criticizing the Israeli leader's aggressive response in Gaza to Hamas' Oct. 7 attack, and saying Netanyahu has been an obstacle to peace "for years." Pelosi made the remarks in an interview with Irish public broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann during a visit to Ireland. Democrats, including President Biden, have grown increasingly critical of Netanyahu's leadership as Israel continues its assault on Gaza.
House Democrats upend GOP's early 2024 fundraising dominance
(Axios) House Democrats and Democratic candidates have begun to dominate Republicans in fundraising as the 2024 election draws near, an Axios analysis has found. It's a stark reversal of the consistent fundraising advantage vulnerable Republicans enjoyed over their Democratic counterparts last year. Democratic incumbents, nominees and frontrunners in highly competitive House districts raised an average of $890,000 in the first three months of this year. Republican incumbents and candidates in that those districts raised on average just over $550,000 during the same time period.
Trump can't accept MAGA isn't willing to fight for him this time
(Raw Story) Former President Donald Trump expected huge crowds of supporters to show up in protest as he stood trial in Manhattan this week and now he's desperate to come up with any explanation for their absence that avoids the harsh truth, wrote Amanda Marcotte for Salon. This comes as the former president lashes out at New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman for reporting that he is disappointed with the lack of protests outside his trial, and insists that no one is there because police have cordoned off the streets around the Manhattan courthouse a claim which has been debunked.
McConnell Blames Carlson, Trump for Ukraine Aid Delay
(Political Wire) Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday celebrated the impending passage of $60 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine ahead of a final vote, while lamenting the fact that it took months to secure enough Republican support to land it, NBC News reports. Said McConnell: The demonization of Ukraine began by Tucker Carlson, who in my opinion ended up where he should have been all along, which is interviewing Vladimir Putin. And so he had an enormous audience, which convinced a lot of rank and file Republicans that maybe this was a mistake.
GOP senator: Greene 'dragging our brand down'
(The Hill) Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) took a shot at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) Tuesday, saying she is dragging our brand down. She is a horrible leader, Tillis said of Greene, according to audio played on CNNs Erin Burnett OutFront. She is dragging our brand down. She not the Democrats are the biggest risk to us getting back to a majority. He added that the Georgia Republican is uninformed and a total waste of time, per the clip, highlighted my Mediaite.
Marjorie Taylor Greene's crusade fails to dislodge Johnson as House speaker
(Atlanta Journal-Constitution) For weeks, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene promised that if the House approved a package of military aid for Ukraine, she would rally fellow Republicans to get rid of House Speaker Mike Johnson. But as $95 billion in aid for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan was receiving strong bipartisan support Tuesday in the Senate, the congresswoman from Rome had little to show for her attacks on GOP leaders, even as she continued her calls for Johnsons resignation.
