(43,891 posts)They're not Democrats.
And I'm sure it would be odd to them, but Joe Biden kept. getting. elected. after these votes, was even the VP pick of the first African-American president.
Apparently very few care about those votes any more.

(16,334 posts)He has a few blemishes on his record, such as the Iraq War vote and the bankruptcy bill. But, overall, hes a very solid liberal.

(530 posts)Now we're left with these 2 candidates. One has a chance of beating Trump, the other not.

(52 posts)As a former Pete supporter, I can't tell the amount of vitriol and homophobia that has been thrown towards Pete from the Bernie Bros. One of their big motivators is, "You better vote for Bernie. We're not voting for you." Bernie has zero chance at pulling Trump Democrats back into the fold. Pete and Joe won every single Obama to Trump flip district. Every single one. The youth turn out is lower than in 2016. Bernie does poorly against Joe in the middle age to 65+ category.
I notice that Bernie bringing up the Iraq war vote over and over again is a calling card to younger people who weren't around. Those of us remember. We remember the lies that the Bush WH put out and the misinformation. We also remember it was the Obama/Biden administration that got Osama Bin Laden.
There is room in the tent for everyone. The problem is, Bernie has made it abundantly clear there is only room so long as you're a progressive and get on board with his plan. Plain and simple.
Most of us are tired of being labeled as kid cagers, haters of health, and not caring about the planet.
Bernie speaks to a narrow revolution that insists one must sign onto. Democrats have always been a big tent that brings in everyone. Bernie not being a Democrat never understood that in my opinion.

(530 posts)I cant think of anything Sanders has ever done for the Democratic Party. He is the reason we have Trump now. He didn't concede to Clinton until very late in the primaries and didn't push his supporter base to back her in the general election. He will probably retire from politics because of his age, but if he doesn't, he will go back to being an Independent, and forever stay a cranky old man. I dont like the way he is using Obama in his advertisement and making out its an endorsement.

(1,165 posts)It is one reason I'm not in the Biden camp. I also read the full Sanders oppo research fie that Hillary had. I'm sorry to say I feel like I must pick the best of two poor choices. Still, unless Warren endorses Biden, I'm voting for Sanders.
Here's my favorite quote from the book, while acting a a Carter surrogate, Biden said in a speech:
"Jimmy Carter is not the finest thing since wheat cakes; hes not the second coming.?He's not going down in the history books, but he is doing a good job"
Such enthusiasm. It sums up where I am with Biden.
He goes on to be one of thirty Democrats to vote for Reagan's first budget and becomes a reliable ally for budget cuts and tax cuts.
