Hillary. you had to present yourself in person or did not have a vote. Even though you did not had to
prove you were a Dem, in this small county, your party affiliation was pretty well known. The GOP wanted Hillary and the delegates to the county and then state convention were almost evenly divided here. As a precinct chair, I followed back those new Dems (who as instructed by Rush should vote for Hillary since she had less chance to win.) As I would drive by their houses, I would see GOP stickers on their cars. So you could still pretend to be a Dem but it was harder.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_caucuses Is that what you mean by open primaries?

Yes, we have open primaries and we have caucuses. We have always had both. Although now that you can vote anywhere in Harris county, I'm not sure where I would go if we still have caucuses. Used to be, the caucuse immediately followed the primary. The primary has always been open.

Yes, Ed Schultz died on July 5, 2018. I suspect that the video in question is from the 2016 race. However, I suspect that Bernie and his wife are still just as supportive of open primaries as they were in 2016 since I have heard nothing about them changing their minds about them. I also do not see why they would change their views about open primaries. Bernie tended to do better in open primaries in 2016.
