1. Seriously this is a thing? Voters over 65 are your reason why Bernie is not
a good candidate? Only people over 65 vote.

2. Telling that if we want voters under 45 to come out, we need Sanders on the ticket?

10. And there's WAAAAYYYY less of them.
This election will be won or lost based on youth vote. It's time to stop endlessly pandering to 10% of the population.

11. Thank You for posting that Age as % of the Electorate Chart!
I could not find that anywhere, so I compiled by own rough estimate, but this chart makes the case so clearly that older voters make up a diminishing share of the electorate.

12. Here's another two for your records
I've been using these to counter the constant blabbing about how Sanders will doom us. Yes, I am a Biden supporter, but I personally like Sanders (I actually really like all of our candidates except Bloomberg and Tulski) and actually think he has an excellent chance of winning, based on these figures.
Gen X, Gen Z, and Millennials outvoted Boomers and Silents in 2018. There will be even more members of Gen Z eligible to vote in 2020 and even less Boomers and Silents in 2020. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019/05/29/gen-z-millennials-and-gen-x-outvoted-older-generations-in-2018-midterms/ Gen X leans liberal. It might not be overwhelmingly liberal like Millennials and Gen Z, but there are more liberals than conservatives. Millennials and Gen Z are overwhelmingly liberal. That right there is roughly 60% of the eligible voting public that leans liberal. If we get a candidate that these generations can rally behind, there will be no stopping us. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/03/20/a-wider-partisan-and-ideological-gap-between-younger-older-generations/ ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

15. Yeah, but I hear Sanders is 4th among Nevada voters named Doug who were born on a Tuesday.
And 6th (!) among voters who were born in a leap year and list fuschia as their favorite color.

7. Misleading
The OP is a bit misleading. Sanders is leading overall so far in Nevada, and decisively. The OP seems to imply that Sanders is coming in 5th, whereas he is actually running first overall. The 'coming in fifth" statement is just about one demographic. Sanders position might change as more votes come in, but right now he leads.
So, another part of the OP that misunderstands- it is not Sanders strategy to win over older, more traditional voters. Rather, his strategy is to bring in many more young voters into the process who normally would not vote. His strategy is to mobilize the black vote, the latino vote, the female vote, and the youth vote. These are the new demographics for the Democratic Party. Over reliance on older and maybe more traditional Democrats will not be a winning strategy, in my opinion. Your views may differ. Anyway, it is still early in the day and night, so we will see what happens ultimately in Nevada. Then on to South Carolina and Super Tuesday. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Undecided |

14. The under 40 crowd were the largest voting block in 2018.
Millions of over 65 have died since 2016, and millions of young people are now registered to vote who weren't in 2016. Kentucky and Texas both just set records for new voter registrations in the past 2 weeks. It's not the over 65s, or even the over 45s who are all registering to vote for the first time.

17. Which age group saw the greatest increase between 2014 and 2018?
The 18-29 age group. And every single major racial or ethnic group had the greatest increase in turnout from one midterm to the following midterm in US history.

18. My daughter just early voted in Texas
Said so many on computer page Pete and Biden were on page 2! She said a bunch of the people that weren’t even at debate were on first page.
They changed from Biden to Pete saying they liked his demeanor and intelligence. They are 40 and 38. And he is Lt Colonel in AF. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Undecided |
