Bernie's health records

The one concern that seems to keeps coming up with voters and the media regarding Bernie is that he's 78 years old and had a heart attack last October.

Personally I think he could put this issue to rest by releasing his full medical records. Just like John McCain did in 2008. The fact that Bernie decided not to release them before the Iowa caucus after promising to makes it look like he has something to hide.

What do other people think? You know if he gets the nomination the Trump campaign is going to make up rumors about his health just like they did with Hillary.
If I were to vote in a presidential

It just occurred to me to ask. I have no idea but seems like they all should. To inoculate against inevitable attacks by republicans. I sort of wish they didn't have to, but then again ... the Presidency is a highly demanding job; just running for the job is also; and they are running to be commander in chief of the military, and people joining the military have to take a physical, so ...

Bernie doctors cleared his health and said he has made a full recovery from his heart attack and after recent testing, there is “no significant heart rhythm abnormality.” Biden doctor reported that he has AFib, an irregular heartbeat that he controls with medication.

32. Moving the goalposts.

Ah, now you've moved on to AFib. Newsflash: it's not the same as a heart attack.

Also, when did Biden promise to release all of his medical records?

If there was any chance that he might not release them, Sanders should have never promised that he would. Now, it just looks like he's hiding something, even if he's not.

WaPo agrees: https://www.democraticunderground.com/1287519195#post20

They're also not the same thing, as WaPo noted. Biden's letters included information on his medical history. Sanders' letters just attested to his general health and fitness.

63. Agree.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/bernie-sanders-in-good-health-after-heart-attack-doctors-say/

Sanders has been treated over the years for gout, hypercholesterolemia, diverticulitis, hypothyroidism, laryngitis secondary to esophageal reflux, lumbar strain and complete removal of superficial skin lesions, Monahan wrote. The heart attack Sanders suffered in early October was his "most significant event" in terms of his recent health.
...snip...
Records released by Sanders' campaign reveal the senator underwent a physical examination December 19 and a treadmill stress test with continuous EKG monitoring December 11. The latter test is "an important clinical tool to evaluate exercise capacity and predict outcomes in patients with a cardiac condition," according to a letter from Dr. Philip Ades, the director of cardiac rehabilitation at the University of Vermont Medical Center.

Ades said Sanders exercised "to a level that is approximately 50% higher than other men his age with a similar diagnosis."

7. I think he's looked exhausted and ill lately. I really noticed this the night of the NH primary.

I was close to someone who had a heart attack when only a few years younger than Sanders is now, and she lived another 20 years, but she was retired and took very good care of herself. And the heart attack wasn't bad enough for a stent to be necessary.

I do think Sanders should release complete records about his heart condition, at least.

It's my personal belief that he's simply not healthy enough to endure the rigors of everything that being POTUS requires. You've all seen the photos... Bill Clinton looked 20 years older. GWBush looked 20 years older. Obama looked 15 years older.

Being POTUS takes a toll. Add 20 years to Bernie's age and... well... you do the math and you come to you your own conclusions. There's no need for me to spell it out for obvious reasons.

I understand the denial and anger over this... I was there myself in years gone by when my preferred Democratic candidate was not nominated... it may just take some a bit longer to get there and accept the reality of the situation. Clearly though, the writing is on the wall, as Bernie keep glidin, while Joe keeps slidin.

A slight heart attack, now in the distant past, is not going to bring Bernie down, certainly not to the same extent Joe's poll numbers are collapsing. Perhaps, one of the other candidates will emerge once Joe realizes there's no comin back from his two stunning state primary defeats - soon to be three - and he withdraws from the race. But, it won't because of issues surrounding Bernie's health... he looks as energetic as ever!!

[link:https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/bernie-sanders-promised-to-disclose-his-medical-records-what-happened/2020/01/04/9769ed08-2e67-11ea-bcd4-24597950008f_story.html?outputType=amp|

Here's an excerpt: "Sanders this week released some information — letters from three doctors attesting to his fitness for office — but it fell far short of his promise of full disclosure. When pressed by reporters if more information would be released, he said, “Probably not.”

"Mr. Sanders, like everyone running for president and currently serving as president, should be totally forthcoming about his health. The inadequacy of doctor letters in lieu of records was underscored in 2016 by the ludicrous letter from then-candidate Donald Trump’s gastroenterologist.

"So far, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), 70, has provided the most information, releasing a letter from her physician and five pages of supporting medical data. Former vice president Joe Biden, 77, released a three-page letter from his physician outlining his current condition and medical history."

31. Yes. And that is not good. Hiding such crucial information from voters is not a good sign.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

43. If this is meant in earnest:

can you link to Klobuchar's, Biden's, and Buttigieg's medical records? They surely must all be public and published, based on your stance.

46. I agree. It is a weak point that the Rethugs will pound on.

Frankly, it has me worried.

48. And Donnie Dotard is a perfect picture of health?

Has the Orange Idi Amin ran for a train recently? Though this is a bit old, Bernie at least can run for a train...

49. Politico article on this issue

Robert G. Kaiser, who started at the Washington Post in 1963 and, for much of the 1990s—a long time ago, in media terms—was its managing editor. He is just a year younger than Sanders and said he was taken aback by his renege on health records. (Sanders told Todd once he begins releasing medical records “it never ends.”)

"What are the chances that what he is hiding shows him to be unusually healthy and ready to go four or eight years at top speed? “ Kaiser asked. “I'd say, in logic, they are zero. He's holding stuff back because it will cause him political problems—isn't that by far the safest presumption? The most logical?”

53. Not difficult to figure out...

... I think Trump changed this expectation for the Republicans. Bernie will change it for the Democrats... they look at the votes and think they don't have to release anything. Maybe an edited "summary" highlighting good health. Other candidates will follow... they may not want stuff out, either.

If I were to vote in a presidential

Pete Buttigieg

59. I'm guessing what he's hiding is really high blood pressure. I say that based on his complexion.

I was at a wedding once, and I noticed that the groom's complexion was awfully red. Red enough for me to notice. He keeled over and died the minute he arrived at the reception. So I've noticed this sort of thing.

62. Not much to hide

He will be 79 years old and had a recent heart attack. His energy is amazing, but his situation is precarious. He is a good visionary, but not a realist.
