3. During my senior year of high school, my English teacher gave some etiquette lessons and said

 

that a man should wait for a woman to offer the handshake so that the woman has the decision to initiate physical contact. I've lived by that advice afterwards.

Since this is cold and flu season, I'm more inclined to initiate a fist bump rather than a full handshake to prevent the spread of germs.
