Did Elizabeth Warren 'dis' Bernie Sanders' handshake

After the debate ended it seemed as if Bernie Sanders extended his hand to shake Elizabeth Warren's hand. It seemed as if she drew it back.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Bernie Sanders

40. You forget CNN investigated the incident and intervieweed

the people who were there.

Btw, have you read Sanders' editorial board interview? Here's a quick bit that's pretty typical of Sanders' approach to truth, and perhaps view of reality. He repeatedly said he and they lived in different worlds, and that was the answer they seemed to be able to agree with most.

That’s a really ambitious agenda. What of that legislation do you think could pass a Mitch McConnell Senate?

I think, and thank you for asking that, I need a minute on this one, O.K.? Because I want to just convey to you that I look at the world maybe a little differently than you do, and I say that in due respect. When I talk about a political revolution, it means being an administration unprecedented, certainly in the modern history of this country, maybe going back to F.D.R. Maybe even beyond F.D.R.

So to me, what my administration is about is not sitting with Mitch in the Oval Office or wherever it is, negotiating something. It is rallying the American people around an agenda that they already support. All right? This is, I think, what makes me a little bit different than other candidates, and that is not only will I be commander in chief, I will be organizer in chief. And I think the agenda that we have brought out in almost every respect is supported by the American people. So one of my first stops, by the way, will be in Kentucky, a state that is struggling very hard. One of the poorest. I love the people in Kentucky. I’ve been there and we, you know, and I will be back, but I think, I’m sorry ——

At this point, a followup question is asked to try to elicit an answer.

KK: Make the case for us that you’re a deal maker.

Well, first of all, I’m not quite sure — I have not seen that study. You may want to go back to my role in the House where year after year after year, guess which member of Congress got more amendments passed on the floor of the House than any other in a bipartisan way. (Board explanation inserted clarifying his history from 1995-2007 and that offering amendments is not sponsoring legislation.) But, second of all, the point that I am making is that the way you bring about real change in this country, what the history of America is about is when millions of people stand up for justice. So again, when I say to you — in due respect, and I mean that — we look at the world differently. You’re saying, how do I negotiate with Mitch McConnell? And I’ll tell you how I negotiate. Because when the people of Kentucky are demanding to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour or health care for all or making their schools, public colleges and universities tuition-free, that’s the basis of negotiation. O.K.?

Four years ago when I was in this room, All but three members of the current editorial board joined after Mr. Sanders’s endorsement interview in 2015. I suspect, talking about an agenda, many of the people in this room — I don’t know how many of you were here — thought that the ideas that I talked about, “What crazy ideas, right? Raise the minimum wage to $15? Oh, Bernie, don’t you know, federal minimum wage is seven and a quarter. Who are you going to negotiate with?” Seven states have passed that already, including New York State, and so has the House of Representatives. That’s how change comes about: You make an offer to Mitch McConnell that he cannot refuse, and that is that the American people want to move in a different direction.

So, he'd earlier said he was going to be spending a lot of time in Air Force One, flying around the country to the people. Best I can figure from this, in response to a specific question about which item of his agenda he could get McConnell on board with, he'd apparently get McConnell to pass legislation in general by stirring people up around the country to demand passage and maybe orchestrate an overthrow in Kentucky, not sure what that was about. Would he do this with every bill?

And for the question about how he'd make a deal with McConnell, you make him an offer he can't refuse by threatening him with people marching in numbers he can't just ignore as he does now.

KK:—— background checks. So I guess I’m curious how it will be different.

Again, we do live in different worlds.

KK: Yes.

You know, again, we do live in different worlds. O.K.? I’ve just given you an example.

The interview continues with this view into the world in Sanders' head and his plan to fly around it as a president legislating by revolution. Where are the Democrats and the rest of the people who in the real world actually write and pass legislation in all this? Nonexistent. One mention of Democrats is a hit false-equating us with Republicans (ONLY one specifically mentioning us, though!) and below is the other mention of the Democrats who in the real world write and pass the only non-Republican legislation he'd be signing:

...I think we have more followers on my Senate office than probably almost all the Democratic senators combined. And while I worry very much that Trump has 60 million followers on Twitter, we, I think, have reached the 10 million level.

while some of the more ‘spirited’ of Sanders supporters are targeting her viciously. After some of the overthetop vitriol I saw aimed at her on other Dem pages it wouldn’t surprise me if there were death threats and stalking involved. There is a faction of his supporters that he has no control over. They are the ones who voted for Trump. They are the ones who tend to obsess. We saw that with the Seth Rich story, for example.

Maybe she needs for him to step up....even if it’s just as a friend. Her expression looks like she is genuinely hurt. We really don’t know.

she had just had with Bernie?

She's being the adult in the situation here.

CLIVE, Iowa — Elizabeth Warren’s campaign is telling key online supporters that their “goal is de-escalation” and warning backers not to accuse Bernie Sanders of sexism, signaling a desire to move on from a story that has driven a rift between two longtime allies, and within the progressive community, over questions of gender and electability.

Why does Warren owe an apology for this?

You left out this part:

The campaign official followed up to caution supporters against accusing Sanders of sexism, saying that the line of questioning would be “really bad news for us.”

And you seem to want to gloss over this:

But no one here is actually claiming Bernie himself is sexist (regardless of your own personal beliefs on that topic).”

Also, that part in the parens is not a quote, but an estimation of what the staffer thought or meant.

And what does Warren have to apologize for about this? That her staffer had a different opinion about the controversy?

At one point in a lengthy DM to the Twitter group on Tuesday morning, the Warren staffer’s description of the controversy hewed closer to Sanders’s description than Warren’s.

Warren is the one telling her supporters not to call Bernie a sexist. Sanders on the other hand, seems himself to be engaging with and not discouraging the claims among his supporters that she is lying.

“Bernie and I have far more in common than our differences on punditry,” Warren said.

Why does she need to apologize for a staffer's opinion on something? Sanders hasn't nor doesn't apologize for Sirota's false tweets nor Nina Turner's genuinely offensive attacks on the Democratic Party. Why is the standard different for Warren?

I think they should both stop talking about it. Sanders doesn’t bring it up.

As you said, Warren did. Bernie's surrogates are certainly keeping those flames fanned. Is he apologizing for them?

Warren was and is now asking people to let it go. I agree she should. Sanders already had.

She already did, and used those words in her own statement to the public, as you don't seem to acknowledge. I think Sanders should do the same and tell his supporters and surrogates to let it go.

As Bernie said, "Hillary won the popular vote by 3 million."

Our 2016 candidate was the overwhelming choice of Democrats for the nomination, and she got more votes than anyone not named Obama.

The Oval Office was stolen from our candidate by russian interference, Comey, and voter suppression of Democrats in three key states where she lost by a sliver.

What "mistakes" did "we" make in 2016 that you are seeing "repeated?"

And turn the other cheek AFTER being called a liar? We don't think so and Bernie got rightfully exposed tonight as we have seen this type of attitude from Bernie, up close and personal. Which is why he lost our support after the Democratic Presidential Primary in Michigan - never to regain it UNLESS he is the nominee. Then we will vote to really remove Drump and that's it.

For me it was very clear that Sanders is being disengeous and his finger pointing even at the end is offensive.

This whole exchange showed me that my opinion of Sanders is correct. I respect Elizabeth Warren even more than I did before tonight.

"Four years ago, I was in a national TV debate and the moderator said, Senator Sanders, what do you consider to be a major foreign policy and national security crisis. ... But I responded and I said that the major national security crisis we face is climate change. And the moderator actually laughed."

Never happened. There are videos. Anderson Cooper didn't laugh. Nobody laughed.

Others are him saying ordinary Democratic policies were considered radical until he "introduced" it: higher minimum wage, universal health care, higher taxes for corporations and the rich, more regulations, environmental controls, gun control, etc. etc. etc.

I still remember after the Texas gubernatorial race debate and Ann Richards opponent refused to shake her hand and I think it cost him the election as Texans found his behavior unacceptable. Ann went on to win narrowly.

Of course the political sphere has changed drastically. I never thought Orange could outlive his grab em by the *** comment. I didn't think Americans could stomach such crass language; I was so wrong.
