Biden says he doesn't need Obama's endorsement

The former vice president also scoffs at the idea Elizabeth Warren is building enthusiasm, and accuses Pete Buttigieg of stealing his plans.

EMMETSBURG, Iowa — Former Vice President Joe Biden on Monday said he didn’t need Barack Obama’s endorsement in the Democratic primary, even if the field were down to three people.

He also scoffed at the notion that Sen. Elizabeth Warren is building enthusiasm and accused Mayor Pete Buttigieg of stealing his plans.

In a wide-ranging interview aboard his campaign bus during an eight-day tour through Iowa, Biden talked to reporters about his prospects in Iowa, the likely strength of his campaign going into Super Tuesday and his relationship with the former president.

Biden reiterated that he asked Obama not to endorse him, and he stuck by that stance even when asked whether he’d want Obama’s backing if the field narrowed to three people.

“No, because everyone knows I’m close with him,” Biden said. “I don’t need an Obama endorsement.”

3. Inasmuch as he's far ahead of the others without Obama's endorsement, he's correct.

17. Yes!

Interesting earlier in the race, the same posters were saying “he leans on Obama to much!” Now that he says he’s okay in the primary without the endorsement they gripe about that!

One has to ask... which is it??

I’m here to say it’s joe bashing .....undiluted!

6. Barack Obama is not going to endorse one Democrat over another Democrat

He is not going to put his finger on the lever. That is not his style. And Joe Biden is close enough to him, he would never ask him to do that.

to have Obama’s endorsement if he was offering it.

9. You're assuming.. he said he asked Obama not to endorse him in the primary

Joe has been totally above board in his campaign and should he not get the nomination wants the nominee to have that full endorsement... there is no reason to think he’s not being truthful.... it matters to him that dotard be sent packing even if it isn’t him!
