Deval Patrick is impressive
A very impressive guy with a very impressive life story. He came up the hard way. I'm willing to give him a look. No one has the right to my vote simply because they are already in the race. This move, as has been sourced numerous times over the last 24 hours, has the Obama circles fingerprints all over it. He would not have entered without the blessing of Obama, himself- a best friend. It will be difficult given the late entry but not impossible. I support Biden but Deval could easilybe my 2nd choice. Let's cast our votes and get behind whoever the nominee is.

1. He is. But kinda too late to get in this game, IMO.
If he wanted to run, he should jump in 6 months ago.

2. It's not to late technically
but good point. Bill Clinton jumped in after labor day. That said, Deval didn't want to run 6 months go after being courted by the Obama circle. So.one has told him there us still time

5. But at this point, what does he offer?
If he was there at the beginning, he's style, vision and policies matter. At this point, he would really have to turn heads to have an impact. Just my humble opinion, of course, but I can't see him having a big impact right now.

9. Axios is reporting that prospective Bain Capital investors said Patrick assured them he wouldn't run
in 2020, though he wouldn't rule out a run in 2024.
https://www.axios.com/deval-patrick-bain-capital-2020-presidential-election-ddbfa663-dc9a-44bd-a4fd-1d4634f5792d.html Deval Patrick made it official this morning, announcing that he'll run for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination — and he also formally resigned from Bain Capital, sources say.
The state of play: He joined the firm in 2015 to launch and lead a platform focused on "social impact investing." That group, called Bain Double Impact, is in the midst of raising its second fund. Prospective investors tell Axios' Dan Primack that Patrick had assured them he wouldn't run for president in 2020, although left the door open for the 2024 race. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

4. He doesn't bring anything more to the table regarding experience
Than what we have already with our candidates.

6. Jay Inslee was more impressive with a much better resume
He'd have a difficult time getting reelected in Mass.

7. I'm nobody but I read this as an attempt
to affect the race in some way without seriously trying to win it. His first task is to convince people otherwise I think.

10. I agree that this is a possibility.
I'd argue only that he could affect the race in other ways besides offering himself as a candidate.

8. If he sought Obama's advice, I would imagine he was honest
and told him it was too late to wage a credible bid.

11. I like to think that Obama would have given him exactly this advice.
Obama seems to me way too savvy to consider Patrick's candidacy as a viable move.
