NH as a Viet Nam protest, and achieved an amazingly strong showing against the sitting President LBJ, who soon dropped out of the Presidential contests.

Post-election, post- mortem, revealed that a decisive number of NH voters, thought they were voting for Joe [nee 'tailgunner joe' McCarthy, a vicious, drunken, anti-commie from the 1950's].

[These 'moves' marked the end of the FDR coalition, as the various factions and their candidates - enabled loser Nixon, to win the WH].
