Hillary Clinton leads Trump in a new Fox News poll. Yes, in November 2019.

A Fox News poll released Sunday did not have great news for President Trump. His approval rating was 42 percent, with 57 percent of registered voters disapproving of his job performance and 46 percent strongly disapproving. A year before the 2020 election, he is behind all of the top-tier Democrats, including former Vice President Joe Biden (51 percent to 39 percent), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (46 percent to 41 percent), and Sen. Bernie Sanders (49 percent to 41 percent). Even worse, Trump is losing to Hillary Clinton, who isn't even running, 43 percent to 41 percent.
Since Clinton is not running, it isn't clear why Fox News decided to ask voters to choose between her and Trump. The pollsters noted that the last time they included Clinton in a matchup against Trump was Nov. 3-6, 2016, during which period she was also leading Trump, 46 percent to 42 percent and also actually running for president. Which, again, she isn't currently.

Maybe not such a surprise.

(51,523 posts)Trump (and Tulsi Gabbard) continues to claim that the Clintons are somehow involved in the 2020 race. It is sick. But he knows what drives the GOP base, so he's shamelessly pushing this lie, and Fox is helping him.

(11,972 posts)Then she led by four points (lost mostly because that doesn't account for electoral college variation), today she leads only by two.
By comparison, in the same poll, Biden beats him today by 12, Sanders by 8, Warren by 5.

(11,972 posts)Usually, once the heat of a campaign is over, negativity subsides somewhat. It would not be out of the ordinary for someone's "unfavorables" to increase when they are actively being campaigned against (and when they are getting negative coverage in the news), and to decrease when they're not. I think it's kind of amazing that after three years of an especially bad, verge-of-being-impeached Trump presidency (and HRC having essentially been vindicated on the email thing), these numbers show Hillary STILL this weak against Trump.

(14,647 posts)One Year From Election, Trump Trails Biden but Leads Warren in Battlegrounds....
Anyway, the poll looks at 6 battleground states and has trump leading all but biden in most. Could be an outlyer, or could be a sign we still have a steep climb ahead.
Remember, he will cheat everywhere, but most viscously in these states.
