BTW, Ms. Gray, I don't "feel free to hear" your explanation - a vote for Stein and not for Clinton is explanation enough for me.

(67,782 posts)....I can't give that video credibility. And as we've both pointed out, he gets almost all-white crowds at his rallies even when they're in black neighborhoods and black schools.
I don't call that "connecting" with black voters. Ms. Gray certainly isn't an objective observer.

that he spoke about was how Trump thrives on hate, loves to divide our nation by the color of their skin, religion, sexual orientation, land of origin etc. and then asked the audience to look around at other people that didn't look like them and asked if they were willing to fight for those people as much as they would fight for themselves!?
It brought the house down!
Trump is a scumbag there is no doubt about that, he thrives on division, I'm just thankful Democrats aren't like him.

(112,070 posts)Is it a matter of vanity or ego? It's not like Bernie doesn't have the money to get a hearing aid.
I recall at least two public appearances (the Fox town hall and one of the debates) where he has cupped his hand behind his ear because he couldn't hear the question.
I guess that having hearing problems might provide a convenient excuse for Bernie when he feels like he needs it. I wouldn't want to go out in the cold Vermont winters to take out the trash after all.

Hearing loss can be very subtle and sometimes it takes time in becoming aware of it.

(112,070 posts)I'm surprised that he hasn't reviewed the video and noted that he appears old as he cups his hand behind his ear. Surely, someone in his campaign has raised that issue with Bernie? As an outside observer I noticed Bernie's hearing problems this primary season, so there really aren't any subtleties to miss. And even if Bernie is oblivious to his own hearing problems, then why isn't Jane saying something about it to Bernie?
I've noted my diminishing hearing and I'm only 54. I can still hear a wide range of beeps when I take the hearing test. I can still hear all of the musical instruments when I listen to a band or orchestra. Most of my hearing difficulties are because people aren't pronouncing their words well, they are facing a different direction from me while speaking, or they are trying to speak over a running dishwasher or a fan motor.
One of the vital skills of a diplomat is to be able to listen to others. Any candidate that is incapable of doing so moves down my list of people that I will vote for since there will be others that are capable of exercising those skills.

(58,338 posts)I believe Bernie's hearing loss may just be beginning and even people that hear well sometimes cup their ears particularly in a noisy environment so it can be very subtle.
It may not be so acute that he has a problem hearing Jane or someone else at home.
As I stated before I believe Bernie will realize it and get hearing aids.
I have total confidence in his abilities as a President.

"This isn't a black issue," Booker said. "It's an American issue."

The forum was centered around economic equality. Some candidates focused questions to their signature policies entrepreneur Andrew Yang spoke of his plan to give every adult $1,000 a month, and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont repeated his long-standing belief that "economic rights are human rights."
"If you're sick and you can't go to the doctor, you're not free," Sanders said, building on a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. about a solid economic foundation being necessary to true freedom. "If you can't afford an education, you're not free."
The candidates made their best pitches for addressing the range of issues that disproportionately affect African American citizens and other people of color. They spoke about the criminal justice system, education access, wage inequality and access to business capital.

(83,715 posts)Good to know they qualify for the debates. Love them both.
It is the times I think. We have reached critical mass and people are frightened. Some reach for the ones they know and some the polling data, who can beat trump. Some reach for the pie in the sky and that may cause us all irrevocable damage.
We shall see.
Thanks emmaverybo
