Does anyone believe that most children of celebrities and public figures don't benefit from their

parent's position?

Ivy League Schools, Law firms, better jobs, etc.

It is a long list, and it crosses party lines

1. I have greatly benefited from my parents positions.

And they are not celebrities or public figures.

In my case, there has never even been the appearance of ethical impropriety. Same is true for the children of many celebrities and public figures.

3. Really? Just the last name of a Kennedy, Clinton, bush or other influencial person

put the children of those parents in a special category?

It doesn't have to be explicitly said

While not the same thing, it is parallel to what some refer to as "white privlege"

Also, I am only referring to celebrities and public figures, because by their status, willingly or not, their name opens doors that others would not be able to

It goes on all the time, especially among politicians, and across party lines

5. Not all children of celebrities or public figures...

Take positions that give the appearance of ethical concerns. Some do. Some donít. Just saying they benefit adds nothing to the conversation with respect to the Bidens. No one thinks there wasnít the appearance of a violation of ethics. No one who isnít partisan or part of a cult of personality.

11. You don't see a problem when the son of a US politician hoping to be president, sits on the board

of a company based in another country? First, there's a conflict of interests and second, why is he there? I have these same concerns, in fact, much more so, about the Trump family. It is unethical. It puts at risk the quality of our own democracy, and I don't say this from any partisan standpoint or as part of a cult.

12. I seem to agree with everything you have stated.

I say that respectfully.

"You don't see a problem when the son of a US politician hoping to be president, sits on the board of a company based in another country?" I do and stated as much.

"First, there's a conflict of interests and second, why is he there?" Fully agree. Both are ethical issues on face value with the potential for much worse.

"I have these same concerns, in fact, much more so, about the Trump family." Fully agree

"I don't say this from any partisan standpoint or as part of a cult." You wouldn't be saying this if you took part in the cult of personality. Not all of us are afflicted with the disease.

21. It was no an ethical problem until

Donnie Dotard, of all people, tried to make it one.

And if has nothing to do with Joe Biden. Why are we letting them do this? We always do, while the Rs get away with worse.

2. When Jimmy Carter was President his daughter Amy went to a DC Public school

The press made a big song and dance about it and President Carter did a phone-in with Walter Cronkite where among callers asking about energy, foreign policy and inflation, someone called just to ask why the daughter of the President of the United States attended public school!

In all the years while we don't know the person is going to ever be a candidate? Plus, you are talking about adult children, not the person themselves.

18. Think about it.

Any parent wants to give their spawn a leg up on everyone else. If the family name helps in that regard, so be it. Anyone with a brain should realize that Hunter Biden, Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr, Eric Trump get before powerful people due to who they are. The issue is what those people choose to do when doors are opened for them, Hunter Biden appears to have behaved ethically, we have seen plenty of cases wher none of the Trump children save his youngest daughter and son have.

20. Are you saying it's fine then?

I haven't dug into the Hunter thing (because I think it's mostly BS), but if he wasn't qualified for that job, it sure sounds like some people wanted to get a U.S. VP's kid into their company and throw some money at him, because who knows... maybe he will be able to help you out at some point, maybe just by having your problems heard. That alone can be hard to do sometimes.

Obviously, there hasn't been any evidence he did help them out, or ever talked to his father about things that could help them out. But it doesn't look too good from the outside.

It goes back to the thing you're supposed to avoid: not just conflicts of interest, but the APPEARANCE of them. That's the high bar. I'm not sure it was met here.
