Please - do not fall in love with a candidate; they are not rock stars; they are human beings. Do not give up your critical thinking skills. The impeachment of Donald Trump in the house has crossed the Rubicon. It is going to run it's course to the end, and there could be some collateral damage.

(149,534 posts)And I see that you support the same candidate that I do.
I feel very strongly that he would be so good for the country, esp. with the scenario we now face. A calm, intelligent, empathic man who truly cares about what happens to all of us.
I hope he can help the country come to wholeness and healing.

(48,920 posts)hoping he will be, just so another candidate might have a better chance.
We need to keep in mind that an attack on one of our candidates by Trump and the RW smear machine is an attack on all of them.
And all of them should be speaking up in defense of one another.

The question is, who can endure these predictable attacks. The answer is Biden. By virtue of being a universally known commodity, he is the least susceptible to attrition. Its also true that he plays best in the states that will likely matter most in 2020which is my next point. ....
Based on this premise, Biden is the clearly the best positioned to win the presidency, because he hails from Pennsylvania, because of his unmatched experience, and because of the folksy image as a moderate. But even if you disagree with these educated assumptionseven if you think the key isnt working-class whites in the Rust Belt, but rather, increasing African-American turnoutdoes anyone believe that Sanders or Warren would have a better shot at doing that than Barack Obamas vice presidentespecially if he were to pick an exciting running mate?
There are plenty of reasons to think the smart money is still on Trump to be re-electedespecially if he can stave off a recession. Democrats do have a shot at defeating him, but the danger for Democrats is overconfidence. If they think any candidate would easily destroy Trump, they might make the mistake of nominating any candidate. ...
Joe Biden is far from perfect. But in 2020, it is very clear that no Democrat has a better chance of winning the presidency than him. If Democrats are smart, they will bet big on the best horse theyve got. Biden isby farthe best Democrat for this job.

(2,061 posts)We are talking about the rights and lives of not only Americans but people across the world. We are talking about one of the most powerful and influential positions in the world. Its politics at the highest level. I can dump any politician in a moments notice if its best for our march forward. This is a team sport. If you adore a player you better stay grounded and be ready to walk away from them.
No individual is more important than the cause.
