(115,281 posts)that would go unnoticed, or at least unreported, if done by anybody else. But of course since Biden is so totally "gaffe-prone," that's going to be the story. Kind of like how Al Gore was boring and Hillary wasn't likable enough, it turns into a meme -- because if you don't have any substance to report on and you've got air time to fill, hell, let's find some more gaffes because that's what Biden does! He said it was Tuesday when it was actually Wednesday! He said he was drinking Coke when he was drinking Pepsi! OMG!

(8,144 posts)and easily explained and harmless tongue-slips. Also consider the source.
No comparison between decent, qualified, experienced, knowledgeable, hard-working Biden and his long civil rights record and unfit, moronic, racist, criminally corrupt Trump. Please dont go there with any Dem candidate.
Next.

(4,387 posts)Maybe you're OK with that and that's fine. I'm not. Biden mixed up at least three different stories together into one that never happened. Then, when confronted with this and given the facts about it, doubled down and stood by his story. No thanks.

(10,811 posts)There's no comparison to Trump. None. As Josh Marshall stated explicitly yesterday in his op-ed at TPM:
Trump is a degenerate, malicious liar.
Case closed!

(8,745 posts)Forgot that black kids are not the same as "poor kids."
Forgot that telling an African-American audience that Mitt Romney would "put you all back in chains" might be a loaded statement.
Forgot that Anita Hill was never the one on trial and that despite saying he "owe her an apology," forgot to actually apologize.
But Obama used him to balance his ticket and assure older white voters that he was safe as milk, so it all works out.

(8,144 posts)in other regions, was a term many folk used to express hierarchy. It could be fond, think John-boy, and, on the other hand, a white man could use it with a white store clerk. Many white men used it with each other, as peers. Also could be used in sports as in Go, my son, which you will hear
UK and Irish say. Here it might be look at that boy run away with the ball, or our boys played a great game today.
Boy did evolve into a racist smear meant to infantalize, demean, dehumanize black men.
Senator Eastland used boy with White Senators, and in that context, without its racialist connotation. Biden would not have heard him use it as a racial slur in talking to senators.
To this day the word has a variety of contexts is which it is used and connotations accordingly.
Attempts to paint Biden as a racially insensitive closet racist have failed.
Biden was not recalling Eastlands racism fondly, but his old-man quirks in relating to young senators like himself and Ted Kennedy.
