Response from many Texas Leaders :"Let us be clear: Texans want Beto O'Rourke in the White HouseLink to tweet ?s=20 " Beto’s popularity with swing voters makes him not just the ideal presidential candidate for Texas, but for the critical battlegrounds of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Florida. With Beto's energy at the top of the ticket in Texas in 2018, we flipped two congressional seats, two state Senate seats, 12 state House seats, and dozens of local and judicial seats across Texas. Imagine what he would do at the top of the Democratic ticket across the country. The very fact that Beto remains popular across party lines, while never shrinking from divisive issues — is exactly what makes him the ideal leader for our country in this moment. Beto does the hard work of bringing people together. So let us be clear: Texans want Beto O’Rourke in the White House. With him at the top of the ticket, we can finally turn Texas blue and, in doing so, guarantee that Donald Trump never darkens our doorstep again."

6. Midterm election happened
Beto made amazing progress in voter turnout for a midterm, but he should be able to get even better turnout in a presidential year.
Also, believe it or not Cruz is fairly popular in Texas--he has a very loyal following-- certainly more popular than Trump ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Undecided |

when Wendy Davis ran for governor. That's a very significant swing that I doubt any other candidate could accomplish.

Maybe another candidate couldn't come closer than 8 points but that's not close enough to win, and... the reverse will be in consideration. Can he do better in other states than the other candidates, say Warren?

Texas conservatives (actually, reactionaries) are as rabid as they come. Beto energized the lethargic left in Texas, he didn't pull mythical centrist republicans.

8. This Texas living Cajun wants it!
We already have great candidates running for Senate here. It is already a long shot that any of them will actually oust Cornyn.
However, Beto on the National ticket? That could be the “2-step” that brings Texas out of the Red and into the Blue! Texas has this weird and unhealthy brand of “nationalism” when it comes to Texas. Cornyn vs Beto for Senate? 2 Texans. Cornyn will likely etch out a win. However, Beto against Trump?? Texan vs New Yorker?? Oh hell yes, Texas would be VERY much in play.. Not only would it be in play for the GE for POTUS, but just as Beto’s energy helped gain us some seats in the house (including my own with Lizzie Fletcher, the FIRST Democratic Party Rep for my district since the 1960’s when George HW Bush sat this district!!!), but we could gain the Presidency and that 1 seat that could well end up being the difference between 2 more years of Moscow Mitch, or Schumer leading the majority in the Senate!! ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Undecided |

We need a ticket that contrasts sharply with Trump-Pence. The notion that we need an old white male to defeat an old white male is rather foolish.

32. My favs far are Bernie, Warren, and Buttigieg. I voted for Bernie in the primary last time
but I think Warren is similar (progressive) and seems to have a lot of energy and I think can bring a lot of excitement to the race (bring in a lot of younger people). I doesn't look like Buttigieg will make it? I also still like Bernie and truthfully I wouldn't have a problem with Biden. I would prefer a more progressive candidate. I just wonder if America will elect a woman? I know that sounds strange but sadly a lot of men (even Dems) are still living in the 19th century as far as women's right and equality. The primary thing for me is making sure that Trump does not have a second term. I'm not sure I or the country can handle another 4 years.

27. Actually, I think that Beto is climbing into the second tier
with Harris and Buttigieg and is within the MOE of being fourth overall. If people are uncomfortable that the top three in the first tier, then they may start looking at the rest of the line and Beto will be there waiting. I expect that Beto will gain some more traction after the third debate so I'm not counting him out yet.
