Which is an accurate assessment, in my opinion. I think he's going to siphon votes from a demographic or two that other candidates consider very important to their campaigns.

The funny ones are the posters summarily dismissing him and declaring that he has no chance...but posting repeatedly about him in multiple threads.

Every... EVERY aspect of a candidate's life is fair game. His (or her) interviews, writings, recordings, votes... successes and failures.
Voters have the right to know if there's something in a candidate's background that would be a "showstopper" for his (or her) campaign during the General Election. By that time, it's too fucking late.

We deserve to know the truth." that's what I hear.

I don't live here.

Let me introduce myself. I am a lifelong 40 plus years, Democrat, I have worked for this party, given money to my party and supported every nominee for all of that time. I have never given a litmus test to a Democratic candidate. I have some I don't like much, but I would support them and have, in the general because a Democrat is always superior to any Republican.

My reason for questioning some of Mr. Sanders ideas and actions is due to what happened in 2016, when so much division began in our party. I had friends who supported Mr. Sanders who began to question any of us who did not as "not a real democrat".

I am hoping we can get through this primary united to beat the orange menace, but I am concerned and have voiced that often. FYI I have responded to posts a lot older than a week before. I am semi retired, but I work and do 20 to 30 hours a week of volunteer work so there is that.

But hey, why wouldn't I back the runner up of 2016 in the next election?

Especially when I agree with everything he's running on? I'm not voting on personality or age.

I backed Hillary to the hilt in the primaries and general election in 2016 but unfortunately she did not get the office.

Time to take a different road now as far as I'm concerned

I'm living proof that some Hillary backers switched over to Bernie. Hopefully lots of them. That might bother some folks around here but so be it I guess.

In the end I will vote for whatever candidate get the dem nomination like always but I will fight for my candidate until the nomination is won or lost.

He won't be hemming and hawing.

Besides, issues and voting records are comically overrated at times like this. They are nothing but dose of rationale for the type who want some reason to change their mind or reinforce their opinion each and every day.

Meanwhile nothing is happening. Once the debates begin then personality, charisma and ability to think on your feet and dominate a one-on-one exchange are front and center, and exponentially more significant than any peripherals. That's why Trump's opportunity was understated and it is also why Sanders' opportunity is currently understated. He is not my choice and I'd be scared to nominate a socialist but he is going to be a force in those debates. Perhaps the dominant force.

There are a lot of questions that he will face this time around that he did not face last time, those questions will be asked of him by moderators and repeatedly dismissing the moderator as someone who misunderstood what happened won't work for long, maybe not even through the first debate.

Bernie has to answer questions about the sexual harrassment and violence issues that took place in his 2016 campaign. Plus his failure to produce the complete, multi-year tax returns will be an issue, he has already been asked that once on national tv. At some point, Bernie's dismissals of the significance of the issues are going to catch up to him. I see him being on the defensive bigtime in the first debate, that does not seem to be a position that he likes being placed in, that is why I think that he is going to have problems in the debates. It won't be about throwing out insinuations about paid speeches and then letting trolls and the media take over, Bernie will have to answer some substantive questions, that may be why we have seen posts trying to take down Harris, Klobuchar, Biden, now Beto.

How was Joe subjected to extreme vetting? People asking questions and raising concerns about his past record is exactly what you should expect (and indeed want) during this process, because the GOP will certainly use anything they can against us.

What even is 'extreme' vetting? Is there some stuff that should remain hidden and that we should hope the inevitable GOP investigators in the general never find out?

I want all candidates (including Bernie) to be investigated, have their past records examined and any worrying past actions or words questioned during the primaries, so we come out the other side with a strong candidate with no unexpected surprises to be revealed later.

This isn't a game where we all win or lose based on who gets the nomination. If any of us get our prefered candidate but then they screw up later and it costs us the general, then we've lost far worse than if a different candidate had won the nomination. Let's never forget that ANY Democrat is better than a Republican.
