Beto O'Rourke's mother has this to say about her son's White House ambitions

Throughout his life, his mother said O'Rourke has followed a pattern when facing hardships: Take a step back at first, assess the situation carefully, and then push forward with renewed resiliency, focus and determination. She says this routine is a trademark of his own familial upbringing in this underdog border city, which "always recharges him, nourishes him" with renewed energy.
"So he doesn't make every decision correctly, but 99% of the time he does. I think he learned from that and moved on, and that's what he does. He learns from mistakes and moves forward."

Now that he's faced some early struggles in the campaign head on, Melissa think her son is more relaxed and free spirited. In short, he's more prepared to "kick some ass" in the debate.
"He doesn't cave in. He's a quick learner," said Melissa, who plans to be in Detroit on Tuesday to watch the first of the two second-round Democratic battles. "He knows there are some things he can improve on from the first and he's been working on that. He's going to really shine."

"The attacks against him can be vicious and so hateful. I once told him, 'Don't do this to yourself,' because I knew what the life would be like," she said. "But this is his time. He's able to draw people from all political sides. He knows the issues well, whether the border, immigration, climate change, and that is increasingly coming through to people.
"The bottom line is, he's doing this, running for president, for the right reasons. He wants to unite people and his centrist theme is key in bringing the country together."

"He has such empathy, compassion, patience for people who have disadvantages. Maybe it was growing up with a sister (Erin) who has disabilities. She inspires him. She inspires all of us to be better."
One thing that hasn't changed during his bid for the presidency is the need "to talk to people, to listen carefully and to carry their message. His did this as a city councilman, as a congressman, as a candidate for the U.S. Senate and now for president. That's what drives him, being out there talking with people, figuring out how to solve their problems, how to make this country better for everyone."

3. Not sure of the official disability

Only have heard "intellectually impaired" which could mean a lot of different things and that Beto loves her very much.

5. That picture is adorable. I've known several friends that have

family members with disabilities.
I think it really does give them an extra sense of empathy and a strong understanding of what is truly important in this world.

Betos love for humanity comes thru.
That might actually be a liability in this race.
You just wonder if Trump and his cabal might eat him up and Beto wouldn’t fight back strongly enuf.

7. I have many years experience with narcissists like Trump

And although there is the urge to beat Trump down into the ground by attacking him...that is the absolute WORST and least effective way to beat a narcissist. That is exactly what energizes a narcissist. They feed off those negative emotions they elicit. It's referred to as narcissistic supply. No narcissist was ever beaten/stopped/or rendered ineffective by way of pumping them full of supply. The ONLY way to beat a narcissist is to STARVE them of supply. That is what makes them feel vulnerable and exposes their weaknesses.

To beat Trump Democrats need to nominate someone who is not defensive, won't react with negative emotions and who is able to challenge what Trump does and says without making it about Trump. This is what Beto does. He speaks very openly and honestly about what Trump does and says and instead of attacking Trump for it he tells everyone that as long as Trump is in office what he does and says reflects on us and that it's up to us to fix it. Instead of just attacking Trump for what Trump does and says he calls on all of us to come together, make our voices heard and get involved, volunteer, bring others in and make sure we all do everything we can to change it. He stresses that we can't just do it with one presidential race, that it has to start at a local level on school boards and city councils and at every level in every place...a movement to save our Democracy, our morality and our planet.

In that article it mentions how he managed to energize voters so much that Texas midterm turnout damn near doubled. If he is the nominee he WILL have that same impact nationally. The FEC fundraising in Texas for the presidential race so far should be a clue. Dollars are more reliable indicators of intended votes and support than poll numbers are. Beto is whooping EVERYONE'S ass in fund raising in Texas...including Trump. Canvassers on the ground going into deep red areas show Beto trouncing Trump with Independents and moderate Republicans. If Beto is the nominee he WILL win Texas and probably at least a few battleground states...but if it were only Texas then Trump has zero path to win because without Texas there just isn't one.

Beto is actually the ideal candidate to go against Trump in every way. The same national news media that helped elect Trump are doing their best to convince Democrats otherwise, though. The story on the ground is very, very different, though. Perhaps Democrats should start asking themselves why Beto is being attacked so relentlessly over such petty things. Maybe they just want Trump to win. I'm sure news ratings are really up since he was elected. Just sayin'...

6. +1. When Trump mocked the NYT journalist, it hurt him deeply

and it hardened his belief that Trump was a vile monster who had no business being near the White House. (He openly called for Trump's impeachment during the Senate campaign.)

8. Yes, he is in no way afraid to speak out against Trump

But instead of making it about Trump he places the responsibility on all of us to get off our asses and change it...volunteer and vote. Just like on The View he put the responsibility of that racist chant not only on Trump, but said clearly that everyone who chanted along are responsible for their behavior. We are all accountable for not only what we do, but what we DON'T do.

9. Lol, his mom?

Pretty sure any candidate’s mom has good things to say about their daughter/son. Too funny.

10. Why do you always feel compelled to spew negativity on anything positive about Beto?

Do you think it makes your candidate more likable or reflect well on him? It doesn't. In fact, it just inspires me to want to remind you that only candidates who win delegates have any shot at the nomination. Unlike some candidates that charge voters $500 for a photo with them...Beto will actually get delegates.
