Sanders aide apologizes for questioning American Jews' 'dual allegiance' to Israel
A spokeswoman for Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign apologized Tuesday after questioning whether the “American Jewish community has a dual allegiance to the state of Israel” — a comment condemned by Jewish leaders across the political spectrum as having anti-Semitic overtones.
"In a conversation on Facebook, I used some language that I see now was insensitive. Issues of allegiance and loyalty to one's country come with painful history,” Belén Sisa, Sanders’ national deputy press secretary, told POLITICO. "At a time when so many communities in our country feel under attack by the president and his allies, I absolutely recognize that we need to address these issues with greater care and sensitivity to their historical resonance, and I'm committed to doing that in the future" Sisa posed the question Sunday during a discussion in a Facebook thread in which she said that, like Sanders, she stood with Rep. Ilhan Omar. She deleted the post after POLITICO began asking about it.

1. These dual loyalty libels have gotten Jewish people killed.
I would urge the United States to come to the aid of any NATO nation that was attacked as well as Mexico, Japan and South Korea. I guess that means I have dual loyalty to those nations.

4. The dual loyalty charge is bullshit
I just listed a whole list of nations I would urge my country to come to its aid. Why is only Israel singled out?

6. Yeah right. She now sees she used language that was insensitive. It was the same anti-Semitic BS
that has been in the headlines the last couple weeks, and only confirms that from their perspective it was questioning Jewish loyalty.
No doubt the apologists will come out and tell us this was not anti-Jewish, and has nothing to do with the Jews yeah, sure thing ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

“This is a serious question: do you not think that the American government and American Jewish community has a dual allegiance to the state of Israel?

11. That is so messed up.
If Russia attacked the UK I would want my country to come to their defense. Does that mean I have a dual loyalty to the UK?
