Kamala Harris defends Nancy Pelosi
Sen. Harris defends Pelosi, saying speaker is 'very respectful of women of color'
WASHINGTON - Sen. Kamala Harris defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an interview that aired Friday, saying she has found her fellow California Democrat to be "very respectful of women of color," an assessment at odds with comments earlier this week by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. During an appearance on the New York-based radio show "The Breakfast Club," Harris was asked about Ocasio-Cortez's assertion in a Washington Post interview that Pelosi had been "just outright disrespectful" with "the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color." "That's not my experience with Nancy Pelosi," said Harris, a Democratic presidential primary hopeful. "And I've known her and worked with her for years. I've known her to be very respectful of women of color and very supportive of them." https://www.chron.com/news/article/Sen-Harris-defends-Pelosi-saying-speaker-is-14090703.php

1. Why are we discussing Pelosi and her respect and support for women of color?
Good comment from Harris but what have I missed that this is even questioned?

2. Cortez claimed a day or two ago that Pelosi was "singling out WOC", even though....
...Pelosi never said a word about Sharice Davids, Lauren Underwood, Jahana Hayes, Lucy McBath, and Deb Haaland, all freshmen WOC.

20. Just the opposite. She's very respectful of others opinions
to the point that she's constantly accused of selling out by people who want her to dismiss opinions of everyone they don't agree with.
What she's dismissive of is people who don't have anything close to the experience, knowledge or responsibility that she has snarking at her behind her back or trying to 'splain things to her through the media. And even then, she usually just smiles and ignores it until she's asked about it and then she tends to throw it the shade it deserves. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

5. It has been insinuated that the long-time liberal Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, repeatedly...
Last edited Fri Jul 12, 2019, 09:26 PM - Edit history (2) re-elected in the most progressive area of the country and with POCs all over her leadership group, insinuated by a six-month rookie representative that she's a racist, which the rep immediately walked back with an "of course not" when challenged by a reporter if the Speaker is biased—a verbal oxymoron if I ever saw one.
And btw, that rep's chief of staff accused other Dems in a tweet of being like segregationists from the 40s. This tweet came out of AOC's office. This chief of staff also sported a T-shirt of a WWll, nazi collaborator (guess we weren't supposed to know). He's out of control and the management skills of his boss is in question. This is the genesis of the whole don't blast other Dems on twitter quarrel. Why would adults have to be told not to blast other members of their own party to the world I will never know? Anyway, I think if AOC had begun early on to build a voting block of other reps she could've went to the Speaker with actual leverage that could've torpedoed that immigration bill if it wasn't changed. The four women, the squad, are not enough as Nancy Pelosi didn't build her career without know how to count—four votes out of two-hundred and forty ain't cutting it. AOC needs a block of votes/reps that will garner notice, with some not as far left to add credibility. IMO in six months in office a lot of that time has been spent battling with the Speaker and other Dems. Now she's known as being on the record of accusing the Speaker of racial bias. Not an enviable position to be in. Time to use her considerable gifts to learn how to work and be effective in the House rather than on Twitter. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

8. Hattip to Senator Harris on this one
AOC and her peeps received blowback on that comment, rightly deserved. Ocasio-Cortez would do herself and her constituency more good than bad by piping down and learning the job she was elected to do, instead of challenging the Speaker of the House with ridiculous charges.
