For each debate night, 59% of those polled said Sen. Warren and Sen. Harris each did the best. Former HUD Secretary Julián Castro on the first night and former Vice President Joe Biden on the second night both came in second with just 16%.
But the comments respondents left may say even more than the percentages.
On Elizabeth Warren:
She actually has plans instead of just vague talking points. ― Utah woman, age 29
She clearly identifies issues and has policy plans to address them. Shes direct and articulate about the mistakes being made by the current administration. She hasnt got time for nonsense. ― Kentucky woman, age 64
-------
On Kamala Harris:
I think she is a warrior. She impressed me the day she announced. I believe Kamala Harris has what it takes to beat Trump and get our country going in the right direction. ― Nevada woman, age 58
She demonstrated how a good prosecutor has the skills to communicate powerfully. Her story is very compelling. ― New York man, age 72
She focused on the question at hand and spoke on the issues in a concise, direct, clearly well-informed way. She also showed strength, character, personality, and a confident path to the solutions she provided. ― Kentucky woman, age 43

(68,471 posts)I had no intention of supporting anyone in the primary in the even Biden somehow was out which I don't think will happen..would just have supported the eventual nominee...any of our candidates were fine with me...but I have changed my mind and would support Warren...not Harris in the primary...I would support any candidate in the general...this is not just about Biden either. I have looked at Harris's time as DA and AG...and I think Warren would definitely have a better chance in the general although Biden would have the best chance..

(2,375 posts)He'll get my vote in the general if he makes it that far.
People have been blaming Joe's unpreparedness on his staff, but Joe has been around long enough to know he needs to be prepared for anything.
He was VP for 8 years, after all.

(7,616 posts)The guy is a hero and I love him but he's about 5 years late to the party.
Now I can't see anybody on the other side getting the better of Harris in an argument and Warren has clear and concise policy proposals on how to fix the things most voters are concerned with, plus she can explain them where most folks can understand and doesn't sound too "professorial" doing it. People can get a real education listening to her talk about even arcane economic issues and instruments clearly and she just sounds like she knows what she's talking about too.
We are lucky to have so much talent and there's only ONE I don't like but of course I will always vote for our candidate in the general no matter how self serving she is.

(268 posts)Those two outshined the others on the stage for the 1st debate. My top 4 is still not changed, Biden, Buttigieg, Harris and Warren in no particular order.

(2,268 posts),nice is an understatement but will have to suffice, to see Ms. Warren rise to the top of the polls here in DU and rising fast nationally too. I must admit that when she first declared I thought she would be the front runner by far and was dismayed to see that wasn't so. I had faith then and have faith now that the more people get to hear and listen to this remarkable woman the higher she will soar. Ms. Harris, while not my second choice (Mr. Buttigieg is btw) is also an outstanding candidate.

(74 posts)That Harris is in 3rd place and Warren is in 4th. And who is still in the lead? Biden with 33% in one legitimate poll and 28% in another. Biden-hating HuffPo doesn't count.
Joe-mentum!
