Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumOf the main 3-5 candidates, only Biden can win the swing states.
Just a reminder, however you felt about the debate, that doesn't change the main goal: Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Ohio, Florida = Biden can win those states. Others will struggle.
I thought 6/10 did great tonight (I'll leave you guessing!), but of the debate styles of Biden and Harris... I think Biden matches better against Agent Orange. Tough, forceful, intelligent, AND almost a near physical manifestation of slapping down a bully (via word emphasis, posture, mannerisms, subtle cues, hand gestures) will beat Trump. Harris has tough, forceful, and intelligent. That strange fourth factor she lacks, and that may not be enough.
But I liked them all, hated the mudslinging, and pray to the deities that (respectfully) Bullock replaces Williamson.

(32,715 posts)Yes, Im sure the viewship was high, but all the same the facts are the facts as the OP has stated. We need someone who will easily deliver the swing states and have an overwhelming victory nationwide ...no recount crap. Especially considering todays scotus ruling

(11,972 posts)Michigan (June): Biden and Sanders both lead Trump by 12. Buttigieg by 6, Warren by 4, Harris by 3.
Florida (June): Biden by 9, Sanders by 6, Warren by 4, Buttigieg by 1, Harris by 1.
Pennsylvania (May): Biden by 11, Sanders by 7, Warren by 3, Buttigieg by 1, Harris even.
Wisconsin (March): Biden by 8, Sanders and Warren by 4, Harris even (Buttigieg not polled)
These numbers are all before the debates... I suspect Warren, Buttigieg, and Harris will go up from those numbers since these polls also reflect weaker name recognition compared to the Biden and Sanders.

(108,959 posts)The biggest problem last time would be faced by any Dem this time: hundreds of thousands of votes in those states were lost due to new Voter ID requirements and other forms of voter suppression. This was because, after Obama's re-election, the Supreme Court in 2013 dismantled the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
Even so, Hillary came within 80K of Trump in those three states. You have no evidence -- no one has -- that Biden or Sanders or anyone else would have carried them all, despite the voter suppression.

(31,261 posts)Warren for one has the energy and smarts to swamp Trump in those states. Harris showed tonight that she has steel in her spine.
