Does Bernie Sanders know the current party-affiliation of Bernie Sanders?

His old homepage clearly said that he's an Independent.

His new homepage?
Nothing. It doesn't say whether he's an Independent or Democrat or Republican or whatever.
https://berniesanders.com/

His Twitter-account?
Nothing. It doesn't say whether he's an Independent or Democrat or Republican or whatever.
https://twitter.com/BernieSanders

His Youtube-channel?
"Senator Sanders is the longest serving independent in congressional history." But who knows when that text was updated the last time, so it doesn't count.
https://www.youtube.com/user/SenatorSanders/about

His Senator-homepage?
His bio mentions that he's "the longest serving independent in congressional history", but it doesn't mention his run in the democratic primary in 2016.

The 2020 Presidential Election?
He's running as a Democrat!

To Anderson Cooper in 2016:

COOPER: "… there are some Democrats who -- I mean in your heart are you a Democrat?"

SANDERS: Sure. I have made a decision to run for the Democratic nomination to be president of the United States. I was for 16 years in the House Democratic Caucus, for nine years in the Senate Democratic Caucus.

Right now I am the ranking member of the Budget Committee, appointed by the Democratic leadership and membership. A couple of years ago I was very proudly the chairman of the Senate Veterans Committee. So of course I am a Democrat and running for the Democratic nomination.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/03/politics/democratic-town-hall-transcript/

That was the same year his campaign said that he would be a Democrat for life.
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/dem-primaries/277086-sanders-will-be-democrat-for-life-campaign-says

In 2017:

"Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Tuesday night that he still does not consider himself a Democrat despite taking part in a Democratic National Committee (DNC) unity tour with the party's new chairman, Tom Perez.

'No, I'm an Independent,' Sanders said when asked by MSNBC's Chris Hayes whether he now identifies as a Democrat".

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/329418-sanders-i-do-not-consider-myself-a-democrat

To Chuck Todd 1n 2017:

CHUCK TODD: "Speaking of the Democratic Party, you're, in some ways, the most influential member of it. Yet you're not technically a member of it. The filing deadline to file as a Democrat for the United States Senate in Vermont in 2018 is about three months earlier than it is for you to file as an Independent. It's in May. Do you plan to file as a Democrat or as an Independent, when you run for reelection in 2018?"

SEN. BERNIE SANDERS: "Well, I will do what I have done in the past. Let me just say something about this, the current model of the Democratic Party obviously is not working. Republicans control the House, the Senate. They control the White House. They control two-thirds of the governors offices throughout this country. In my view, Chuck, what we need to do is to reach out to Independents. There are a heck of a lot more Independents in this country than there are Republicans or Democrats. I am an Independent. I've always been a Democrat. I have worked within the Democratic caucus in the House and the Senate for over 25 years. I'll continue to do that

than whoever running the campaign has !!!

Usually campaigns hire an oppo research firm to do oppo on them to see their weak spots and formulate strategy.
If this campaign hasn't done this basic, rudimentary and customary thing, how are they going to run the country?

Sometimes a standard (and only) stump speech is just not enough.

7. Here are the rules of the Democratic Party
Tue Mar 5, 2019, 10:57 AM
Mar 2019

This is the actual rule that governs whether sanders can run as a member of the Democratic party https://www.thegreenpapers.com/P20/2019-01-03-2020_Call_for_the_Convention_12.21.18_w-attachments.pdf

The term “presidential candidate” herein shall mean any person who, as determined by the National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee, has accrued delegates in the nominating process and plans to seek the nomination, has established substantial support for their nomination as the Democratic candidate for the Office of the President of the United States, is a bona fide Democrat whose record of public service, accomplishment, public writings and/or public statements affirmatively demonstrates that the candidate is faithful to the interests, welfare and success of the Democratic Party of the United States, and will participate in the Convention in good faith. At the time a presidential candidate announces their candidacy publicly, they must publicly affirm that they are a Democrat. Each candidate pursuing the Democratic nomination shall affirm, in writing, to the National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee that they:

A. are a member of the Democratic Party;

B. will accept the Democratic nomination; and

C. will run and serve as a member of the Democratic Party.

This requirement of written affirmation shall not supplant any necessary qualifications a candidate must satisfy at the state level, but is in addition to such affirmations required by individual states and territories. The written affirmation shall be done via an approved format by the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee appended to this Call

There is an oath that sanders and other candidates will have to take
https://www.thegreenpapers.com/P20/2019-01-03-2020_Call_for_the_Convention_12.21.18_w-attachments.pdf
Presidential Candidate Written Affirmation

Pursuant to Article IV of the Call for the 2020 Democratic National Convention, I hereby affirm that, upon publicly announcing my candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the 2020 election, I am a member of the Democratic Party. I will run as a Democrat, accept the nomination of my Party, and I will serve as a Democrat if elected. I understand that signing this form does not supplant any legal or Party requirement by any state or territory to qualify for ballot placement in that jurisdiction.

Further, I acknowledge that in submitting this form to the National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee, I am subject to the provisions of Rule 13.K of the Delegate Selection Rules for the 2020 Democratic National Convention and Article VI of the Call for the 2020 Democratic National Convention that authorize the National Chairperson to determine whether a presidential candidate has established substantial support for their nomination as the Democratic candidate for the Office of the President of the United States, is a bona fide Democrat whose record of public service, accomplishments, public writings and/or public statements affirmatively demonstrate that the candidate is faithful to the interests, welfare and success of the Democratic Party of the United States, and will participate in the Convention in good faith.

I don't think we should be mislead by his very dissonant but equally reliable +1 vote WITH Democrats. It's part of a formula that's allowed him to hold onto his very elite and well paid and benefited position.
