Someone posted this yesterday and it stuck .

Part of leading is inspiring a vision of how things could be better and then trying like hell to make it so.

That's Bernie. He has a vision and that's why people are so excited about him.

1. Well said!!! The response to Bernie's AMA among

certain quarters here on DU is kind of hilarious. He's not saying anything different from other Democrats but he sounds like a junior high kid running for class president who wants to steal your 401K.

28. The 401k LIES worked in that thread

Just despicable. I hope someone makes a thread pointing out that this will impact high volume trading NOT 401ks. And besides, it's $.50 for every $100, a drop in the bucket. People are so easily frightened, that's why the provocateurs here use fear as often as possible.

4. Should also remember another

Senator stating similar stances and he was chopped to bits by the DLCers and their buds on Wall Street. Mr. Paul Wellstone was on the front lines trying to make a difference. Bernie is doing things in a similar manner and my hat goes off to him. You know when your message starts to resonate by the amount of push back by the Elite and Monied Class. Notice how the power groups are going to no end to call Bernie every derogatory name in the book.

6. Just the start, the Koch's are pissed at Bernie for his truth telling.

Bernie is just following a similar script used by FDR during his 1930's campaign. Truman used a similar script in his 1948 campaign. BTW,folks it worked.

Never allowing the opponent to get away with a false or misleading statement. I'll bet every household in Vermont knows Sanders as plain Bernie. Koch Bros. have been exposed and that has been the one item that will change the 2016 landscape. I know you will get this Soros crap thrown in our face, the fact is old George wall papers both sides of the isle, not just Liberal issues. Follow the money,Ukraine Bosnia Poland Hungry,Bonds and Currency.

7. What's the difference between "trying" and "doing"?

I like his vision. I wish the no-nothing voters could see that and try to be smarter when it comes to their own future. I wish he had a whole congress of like minded Dems at his back ready to do the hard work to make his lofty ideals the new reality. What can he do to make that a reality?

I've been a Socialist for +30 years, but like everyone else, I live under the heavy hand of entrenched laissez faire American capitalism. Capitalism has become institutionalized as THE premier system for success, at least for the for the rich and famous. The rest of us are left to scramble after the few crumbs that fall out of the overstuffed larders of the wealthy few. Yes, we are always "trying", but the actual "doing" necessary to accomplish any effective change in the status quo remains a wistful fantasy.

17. Part of doing is trying.

We cannot make progress if we limit ourselves to the maximum we think those who oppose us will let us have and start the debate from there. We have to push to make progress. We have to be willing to stand up and say "This is what we want and this is what we believe in as a society" If someone else has a different vision then we at least go towards reasonable compromise honestly.

If you think compromise is impossible with this congress (and it has proven to be difficult) and that they will oppose everything we put forth then why give them the satisfaction of knocking down things we don't really believe in anyhow? Frankly, I don't want to compromise with them on the Patriot Act and the TPP.

Bernie brings these issues front and center and the amazing thing about him is that he doesn't take the typical media horserace bait. He puts his issues front and center in every interview and will speak openly and honestly about what he believes we should do and why. I have not seen many candidates like him.

8. What's so cool about Bernie'a age

which is about my age too ... is that he's old enough to remember when the middle class
actually had it pretty good, when many Republicans still were capable of intelligent discourse
and when the very rich paid like 90% tax on their income.

10. Ah, those were the days my friend. Intelligent discourse from the republicans!

The few intelligent ones left standing (and off the top of my head I can't remember any) have learned to keep their mouths shut, vote pro-Koch, and look forward to getting out of the DC cesspool.

18. PLEASE remember when you make that statement ...

... that the rich only paid 90% tax on that part of their income over a given threshold. And Bernie has no plan to change ANY of that. The first million or so would be taxed at a rate close to what all of us pay. That's how our taxation system has ALWAYS worked, but you'd be surprised how few people actually know that.

BTW - it's is, and has always been, called a PROGRESSIVE income tax strategy - because the rate on each progressive step in your income increases, not because those of any particular political affiliation support it.

21. So many reasons this is one of the best Hollywood movie;

Ever.

No CGI to take away from the story, Erroll Flynn, Erroll Flynn doing most of his own stunts, Great script, great directing, great wardrobe and I'm no fan of English history, but the story revolves around Henry's rule while his brother, King Richard the Lion Hearted was away for a Crusade and his subsequent capture and being held for ransom.

Now, Richard was gay and it's conjectured his absence from the throne because he was out fighting wars for nearly all of his reign was to get away from the intrigue and gossip of the castle, or so I've read (not the gay part because of so many different accounts of this, but of why he was absent so much).

A great way to understand all of the brotherly infighting with the support of their mother, the queen, is to watch The Lion in Winter.

Katherine Hepburn is the queen and Peter O'Toole is King Henry and is another great movie.

24. Pardon me, but I can't help it

King Henry II was Richard the Lionheart's father, not not brother. Richard's brother and successor to the throne was King John; the part of Prince John in the 1938 movie is played by Calude Rains. Of course, Richard is also among the scheming sons of King Henry (Peter O'Toole) and Queen Eleanor (Katherine Hepburn) in The Lion in Winter, as is Prince John and the middle brother, Prince Geoffrey, who outlived his father but was killed in a jounting tournament during Richard's rein as King.

Richard spent very little time in England as King, but the reason for this is that he just couldn't stand the place. Even when he wasn't on Crusade, he preferred to spend his time in his lands in France, where he was the Duke of Normandy, Duke of Aquitaine and Count of Anjou, among other titles. Thus, the King of England was a vassal to the King of France and actually controlled more land in France than that country's King. The all ending under King John, who was one of the most inept monarchs of the day and succeeding losing all of the English King's lands in France.

While Richard may have been a lousy King, like his brother, be was an excellent soldier and didn't need any convincing to lead the Second Crusade.

37. Okay, now I have to jump in.

Richard was a leader of the Third Crusade, along with Philip II of France and Frederick Barbarossa. It was Queen Eleanor who went on the Second Crusade with her first husband, Louis VII of France. Incidentally, it was Eleanor who not only worked to raise Richard's ransom after his kidnapping, but delivered it to HRE Henry VI in Speyer as well. Also, Geoffrey died in 1186, almost three years before Henry II died.
