Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumSanders has twice as many female donors as Hillary...
Unfortunately, it's a moot point.
Compared to Sanders she still has a significantly lower net number of women donating to her campaign.
So far she has collected 13 million dollars in small (under 200$) donations. Let's assume that all donations are equal, that would mean that 7,800,000$ came from women.
Sanders has raised 41 million in small donations. Let's assume that Clinton's donors and Sander's donors contribute the same amount per person. In order for Clinton to have more women donors than Sanders less than 18.7% (7.8/42 * 100) of his donors would have to be women.
In fact, 40% of Sander's donors are female. Thus, Sanders has over twice as many female donors than Clinton.

Can anyone here check the math on this one. It looks accurate to me, but I admit that math isn't my favorite subject, however I do enjoy polling stats.
If so - maybe the media needs to become aware of this fact.
On Edit: My AP Stats whiz kid son just came and checked it and said if what the poster said is accurate, then the math is accurate: Sanders has more female donors than Clinton.

(9,865 posts).in my family give to Bernie. Not that that makes your point, but I meet so many women who do give to Bernie. In fact, almost everyone I've met in the street or at a table staffed for Bernie is a woman. Will follow this thread.

(10,167 posts)but for Bernie I have a monthly automatic recurring donation for the first time in my life. Actually, this is the first time I have not felt a need to keep tight control on my donations since with Bernie I KNOW I won't regret it.

(21,054 posts)Normally, I would just give a donation when I thought about it and I always wanted to make sure that the candidate was still right on the money on the issues that I care about.
This time, an automatic monthly Bernie donation! I know he will do the right thing!

(332 posts)If you want to know what percentage 7.8m is of 41m you divide 7.8 by 41 and then multiply by 100. Let's try it with some easy numbers:
3 / 10 = .3
.3 x 100 = 30(%)
This is what they did sort of. They used 42 instead(Maybe it's 41,900,000 and they rounded up? I don't know.) which might be confusing you. Lets use 41m instead:
7.8 / 41 = 0.190
0.190 x 100 = 19(%)
In order for all of this to work we have to assume that the amounts given by small donors are the same on average for Bernie and Hillary. This seems like a reasonable assumption for back of the envelope calculations. So we're saying that in order for Bernie to have the same number of women donors as Hillary, his percentage of women donors would have to be 19%. But it's not. It's more than double that: 40%. So Bernie has twice as many women donors as Hillary.

(11,366 posts)I think this is accurate.
Now - how do we show the media so they'll understand it?
I'm a former reporter - most of us like composition (shocking, I know! LOL) rather than math.
But, I get it. It shouldn't be that difficult to understand.

(17,656 posts)She can't possibly know which small donors are women, unless she is looking at personal checks!!
So, this is the second biggest lie she has told so far.
Well, maybe the third biggest, there are so many to try and keep track of!!!

(20,453 posts)What female, or head of household would not benefit from a Bernie Sanders economic plan with campaign finance reform in the wings of an honest path to equal playing field, both in the labor market, but future sustainable industries?
The machinations over what his policy might mean are going on, but anyone paying attention to the real issues sees how this helps the family, the fair chance for working men AND WOMEN!
