Remember all the stupid innuendo about Sanders' honeymooning in Russia?

No, not puerile sexual innuendo. That would have been a step up from the implication that Democratic Sssssocialissssst taking a trip to Russia, where tourists from all countries go every year, meant something very very bad (to extreme right wing Senator McCarthy, in 1952 and DU in 2016, I guess?)

And remember how Bernie was Mayor of Burlington, Vermont when he got married?

They married in a civil ceremony and "honeymooned" in the Soviet Union, as perhaps befits a man who calls himself a Democratic Socialist. The trip was mostly business, putting the finishing touches on a sister-city tie between Burlington and Yaroslavl, Russia. (Jane and Bernie traveled with 10 others from Burlington to seal the tie to Yaroslavl, leaving the day after their wedding. In his memoir, Bernie, who also forged sister ties with Bethlehem in the West Bank and Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, described the trip as "a very strange honeymoon.&quot

But how about today's thread about the Communist Party's having endorsed Hillary back in January 2016?

Talk about politics making strange bedfellows. Had it endorse Bernie, DU would have lit up for a couple of weeks.

Their candidate's terrible awfuls require no such creativity.

Clinton, Inc. is messy by default and everyone knows it, just a quick peek at those unholy unfavorables prove that.

They think they will lose California

They are throwing the kitchen sink and anything else they can including every bullshit lie they can.

Did I ever tell DU that I met Daniel Segretti, the infamous RAT FUCKER, during the Nixon years who tried to influence our small group of leftest to protest Nixon but they would supply the LSD, boos and drugs to the protesters to make Nixon look good?

True story, we were trying to get a small college silk screening T shirt business going and they promised us the NFL contract if we did this. We told them to go to hell

Ratfucking from Esquire

(As any student of Watergate knows, "ratfucking" was the word used by Segretti and a number of other officials in the Nixon White House for the dirty tricks they ran in student elections when they all were at the
of Southern California. Segretti -- as well as his pal, Dwight Chapin

-- simply transferred these techniques to our national elections.)

There are two basic philosophical foundation stones to
ratfucking. The first is that political sabotage for its own sake is a worthy enough goal. There doesn't necessarily have to be an obvious purpose or obvious logic behind it. Everything is simply tactics. Those tactics either work or they don't. To believe this, of course, one must first believe that all politics is a essentially a zero-sum game of power; you win and the other guy loses. Who rules? Period. One cannot for a moment contemplate the notion that politics -- and therefore, government -- has anything to do with the public good.

The second basic philosophical tenet of ratfucking is that it is essentially bullying. It is essentially about ridicule and deceit as ends in themselves. Segretti's activities were meant to bring embarrassment and
public scorn upon his targets. They were not aimed at proving to voters that the opposition was wrong. They were aimed at making it look ridiculous. Hubert
Humphrey's bastard child. Edmund Muskie's rallies cancelled.

Expect, the unexpected especially after Clinton's State Department fiasco. Dirty Tricks, Ratfucking , and other nefarious tactics

Go Bernie.

other people who also traveled there trying to make things better for others. The people smearing him with that trip are of course already a cohort known for less than ardent opposition to antisemitic rhetoric and this is just another aspect of that brand of attack.

help "Soviet Jewry," as they still always term it.

Part of the problem was that Jews in the Soviet Union were being persecuted, yet not allowed to emigrate, including to Israel. I don't know if that was part of his mission during that trip, but a sister city for the town he ran was a good reason in itself. For that matter, tourism would have been a good enough reason for anyone to honeymoon there, for all but the 1950s Cold Warriors. Ick.

Just tell the naysayers: When you're Bernie, you just don't pass up an
opportunity to help bring about "World Peace".

The Berlin Wall is opened after nearly three decades keeping East and West Berliners apart.

I'm not a good writer like you... But I'll try. Pretty ugly like a McCarthy witch hunt. It's scary. How can we bring the country together, How can we make Congress work together, How can we even make the Democratic Party work for the people?!
Like Bernie says, People will have to come together and say "enough is enough"
To me it's like the Berlin wall coming down.
It came down because enough people wanted freedom, peace and unity...

He said,"I bring you rock and roll with the hope that one day it will open the doors of freedom." Guess what happened. On that day in 1989, my late dad, who escaped from East Berlin, wept and said "I would never have believed it could happen in my lifetime."

Trump wants to build a wall..

Former Senator Bill Bradley, describing his "great trip" to the Soviet Union while he was a Rhodes scholar in 1966:

"I saw totalitarianism up close--and was revolted by it," Bradley recalled in a Senate floor speech. "I met hundreds of Russians and Ukrainians and found them warm and open people who I hoped ultimately would triumph, as they have, in throwing off the yoke of communism.

"That summer I drove and camped about 1,100 miles through Byelorussia, Russia and Ukraine," Bradley continued. "I went with three fellow students from Oxford--one English and two American--one of whom went on to become an assistant to Henry Kissinger and work in the Reagan State Department.

"What does the President imply . . . that anybody who as a student traveled to Russia is unpatriotic? What hogwash. I thought education was learning about the world first-hand as well as from books."

A congressional aide recalled that during the 1960s the CIA was secretly subsidizing the U.S. National Student Assn. for purposes of sending Americans to youth festivals in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.

Of course, travel to the Soviet Union in 1966 or 1969 would have been much more controversial than it was in 1988, when the Sanders went. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Wall
