I have a theory about that DMX kill the gays song being supposedly played at Bernie rallies.

First of all, if any of you have every been to Bernie rallies you will know that his playlist is pretty lame, pretty boring so that is a red flag right there.

Bernie has plans to lower drug prices. Including AIDS meds.

He has been met by resistance from the advocates for people with AIDs. They are saying that Bernie's plan to lower prices on these meds will have a negative effect on the availability of these meds & the savings would not be passed down to the people who need it. This part needs more research, this sounds crazzzzy to me how people could be hurt by lowering the price of a drug they need - but - it could be possible?

There is an Aids advocate named Peter Staley that has been all over twitter, facebook just trashing Bernie for this. Oh yes and of course those posts by Staley have made it all over the greatest page here on DU by the usual suspects.

It gets worse. They are now calling Bernie anti-gay because of this AND because Bernie is questioning Barney Frank's role in the DNC convention. I wouldn't have tied this all together IF the timing wasn't so suspect. It's all happened within days of each other.

Coincidence or not? Do I need to wear this or not?

I actually hope I am wrong. Because if it's true, that would be heartbreaking. I support what these groups do. I have a friend for life that is a huge advocate for AIDS awareness that lives in SF, I donate to his organization. These are not the people I want to suspect. These are people that I support.
But at the same time, I am not going to sit quietly while Bernie is being unfairly attacked.

2. There is money in keeping everything right like it is. Despite Bernies support for the gays, Human

Rights Campaign came out big for HRC. In Arkansas when the fight was going on in the courts about gay marriage did not do anything at all. A local lawyer did it all. But once it was passed HRC was on the steeps with the national media taking credit. That was the last time I gave them any money at all. I did send some to the lawyer though.

3. This primary season has been insane, hasn't it? Groups that I have supported my entire life

have become political.

Planned Parenthood comes to mind. I have been involved with that organization since college when they were my primary doctor.
They were the best doctors, the most caring. I have repaid them every year by sending them a nice donation at the end of every year plus a few bucks here and there when they were under attack.

And then they chose to get political! And chose the candidate that supports changes to Roe v Wade over the candidate that does not. But it's even more than that. My neighbor is a repug. She also supportED PP. Past tense.

Organizations and groups that are there to help everybody should stay out of politics.

4. It made me realize that they have all gone corporate and that is really the only things

that really matter any more. They can't seem to find any reason for existence once they have achieved their initial goals. Think of NAACP, once integration was the law, they had a heck of a time.

5. They have to demonize him on his strengths

Clinton is weak on LGBTQIA rights, Sanders has been consistent, so they need to make it seem that his desire to lower pries will somehow cause the death of gay folks everywhere... Do they even explain how that could happen? None of this makes sense!

6. "leading AIDS organizations" is a huge

clue. check their boards and supporters and funders. they should all be listed if they have a non profit status..

however, conveniently, mr. staley does not list the names of any of these "leading AIDS organizations".

i can say this from working with california non profits and - yes, AIDS foundations: their boards, directors, funders and patrons are often primarily: pharmaceuticals, private medical organizations, etc., and now, more and more are being run from a business model.

shortage of medicine for aids patients - yes, but only because they will be withheld. supply and demand - to raise the prices and have either the federal government cover the extra cost through medicare or force communities to raise monies to help the aids patients - and cover the cost.
