(26,371 posts)and thus the party leadership--are OK with losing this election if that's what it takes to stop a progressive revival in this country.
After all, they're rich enough to make it through just about anything, and there's no risk of a man like Trump trying to raise their taxes or limit their power.
Bernie, on the other hand....

Exactly, they fear Bernie MORE than they fear Trump.
Yep you nailed it.

(26,371 posts)I understand the desire to see a woman in the presidency, especially for women who came along when sexism was more overt than it is now and discrimination against women perfectly legal. There's a powerful vindication in it.
But I'm not so sure that proving that a rich white woman can serve and protect the ruling class just as well as a rich white man is such an achievement. Margaret Thatcher did it thirty years ago.

The most disturbing to me is that horrific need and determination to prove that a Woman is just as capable of waging warfare as any man.
As if this hasn't been proven throughout the ages already. Catherine the Great, Elizabeth I, Golda Meir, hell Cleopatra, just to name a few.
What we need NOW is a Woman like Elizabeth Warren not Margaret Thatcher!
But she's not running, and I don't want anymore more Margaret Thatchers and I really don't want Bill Clinton back in the White House!
Too bad she didn't divorce his ass when they left the WH. That would have taken something called Courage and Self Respect..

(4,711 posts)The carefully constructed fiction of Republican and Democrat politicians being mortal enemies while in reality they work for the same crop of corporate boardrooms can't survive if both parties aren't playing their parts.

(1,166 posts)is a Bernie Sanders in the White House. He must be stopped at all costs. To the corpo-state, it doesn't matter which party is in the White House or which party dominates the Senate and/or Congress. Of course what matters is that corporations and banks can continue to write the laws in this country.
