Related: About this forumThanks to another member, I am now firmly in the Bernie Sanders camp.
Her unwavering support of HRC has caused me to realize that this is where I belong.
I have subscribed to this group, and I expect to post here now and then.

(10,418 posts)Too bad we don't have a meta forum anymore. But, yeah, there's been plenty of nastiness around here lately and it seems to be more potent than in primaries past. I'm a pretty low key poster, and I'm not very prolific now days, but I think all it takes is a look at my avatar to draw contention no matter what I'm posting about. I have no doubt that some Hillary supporters feel the same way.

(8,478 posts)I've been a Bernie fan since the late 90's, and he is the real deal. I never expected him to run for POTUS, just loved him in the House & Senate. I'm thrilled to see him in the race - I believe he can win it all, but even if he didn't win the nomination he will ensure that the issues we care about will be discussed, at least on the Democratic side.

(3,284 posts)Hillary is going to LOSE, bigtime. That is already becoming clear.
The tsunami is approaching, and Hillary ain't any part of it.
But the Hillary-folks can't see it yet, and
they are going to take it hard.
Maybe they will take it so hard, they'll just have to vote GOP, eh?
Then, we'll really know who's who, won't we?
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,296 posts)I hope they won't go so far as to vote Republican. That would be awful and counterproductive.

(3,655 posts)Hillary isn't giving them much to work with. Dodging the press and weak, general statements doesn't make for much excitement.
nikto
(3,284 posts)That's why her candidacy's toast, eventually.
Hillary would do much better if she were attacked with merely slime, like Monica Lewinsky references,
Benghazi, etc etc
But Bernie's policy-stands, in their clarity and frankness, are far more damaging to Hillary, because they
unmistakeably reveal Hillary's lack of substance, and need to "Me-Too" everything that
sounds good, instead of having an actual belief-system to govern by (which I feel she has permanently
abandoned for expediency, and friendship with elite$).

(55,981 posts)This isn't just about Sen Sanders running for president, it's much bigger. It's catching on around the world. The 99% are tired fo carrying the load for the 1% and are starting to stand up to the tyrants. HRC isn't a tyrant, but IMO she isn't the one to fight the tyrants.

(22,000 posts)I think many of us have been tired of the attacks by the Clinton supporters. Up until the other day I had been wavering on whether I was going to wait another month to decide who I was going to support, but have leaned toward Sanders. So I'm new as well and made my first donation right before the deadline.

(45,251 posts)You are one of the loveliest posters on this board.
While I am grateful for any additional supporters of Senator Senators, though, please do not choose a candidate based on the behavior of his or her supporters. The two things are not related.
When the time comes to propose, sign or veto a bill, or ask Congress for a war vote (heaven forbid), or negotiate a treaty about the environment, it won't be some pleasant or nasty DUer doing that. It will be the politician. Please make the choice on that basis.

(31,919 posts)you have so much kindness to share and Bernie is a candidate who is worth backing. Like you I am not hurting terribly at present, but I grew up poor and I see the middle class (that allowed me to prosper) being destroyed around me. It is time for us to give back and we can do that by supporting Bernie. ((Peggy))

(3,231 posts)I'm having the exact opposite experience - I've been on board with Bernie since the day he announced. Been a fan for years, and being a New Englander I've had a lot more exposure to him than many who live in other parts of the country.
Here's the thing - I do not hate Clinton. And I'm getting disgusted with the attacks on her. One of the reasons I like Bernie so much is that he concerns himself with himself and doesn't attack anyone.
I am a socialist - and not a Democratic Socialist but an Old School Socialist. I am voting Bernie in the primaries but I do not believe enough other people will, just yet. I'm hoping that they do, but if they don't and Clinton is the nominee, all of this hatred of her being spewed on an hourly basis is going to do nothing to make sure a republican doesn't win.
The best way to get Bernie nominated is to spread his message, not make attacks on Clinton that sound like they come from the deranged right wing.
And I would never let the behavior of anyone's supporters change my vote. Never.
I'm thinking big picture though and these vitriolic attacks on Clinton help no one but republicans.
I've been limiting my DU to LBN and a couple of groups I enjoy reading.

(5,141 posts)I will not speak disrespectfully of Ms. Clinton. She well may be our candidate and I dont feel like doing the opposition research for the GOP by listing the myriad reasons why I will not support her in the primary. Bernie wont speak against her, and I think that we should follow his lead. That is my personal opinion.
But DAMN that Bernie - - Ive loved him for years, never thought he would run and now that he is I couldnt be happier or more enthusiastic about a candidate. He REALLY does stand out from the crowd, and I am sure, if people REALLY listened, theyd agree with him over any other candidate.
It does not matter one jot that we think one of them will have a better chance of winning over whomever the GOP candidate may be. I think its high time we ALL realize that WE HAVE TO CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF OUR PARTY and NOW IS THE TIME. If we dont do it now, I fear our opportunity will vanish before our eyes. We must take this risk or put future generations squarely behind the 8 ball.
I have such respect and admiration for you, whether or not you came over to the dark side but I am pleased as punch that you have reached your conclusion.

(13,615 posts)about other people, there is a clever little trick some do if you mention someone by name. It is considered a TOS, and can get you hidden or begin sent a pizza. Granted, it is selectively enforced, but it is a trick I suspect will be played on a lot of people that do not get in line.
