A trivial but telling, IMO, observation ...

Go on just about any thread with a good mix of Sanders v. Clinton supporters. Take a notice of the candidate avatars. Sanders people use current, no-frill pix of their guy. Clinton supporters? Almost to a one - the pix are 20 to 40 years old. Very few, if any, use photos or icons of her current, 60+ year old female self.

Calling Bernie ageist crap like cranky, too old, etc. But can't bring themselves to use photos that show she's not that far behind him in age? Hell, when I went grey - I refused to alter my color. I figure it's my 'flag' of experience and wisdom earned the hard way!

Tell me again who is in fantasy land?

2. Hillary Clinton, born October 26, 1947; Bernie Sanders, born September 8, 1941

A bit under six years between them and Sanders looks a lot healthier and more vigorous than either of the Clintons.

Yeah, an ageist Hillary supporter is hilarious.

The schedule he's kept for the past year, I'd like to see who could keep up with him.

Would love to share a drop from someone on his ss detail.

19. Bernie is a distance runner

Trained and coached in his early years to pace himself. Built up his lungs, etc.

Hillary, many people observe, is not real well physically. There's some speculation of thyroid disease that she has been covering with scarves and collars. And of course there are the blood clot episodes and the falling and faltering on the airplane stairs.

3. It's sexism, and it's so ingrained they don't even realize they're doing it.

They just want a photo that makes her "look good", but we live in a culture where, for a woman to look good, she has to look younger than she is.

I say this as a woman with a full head of grey hair. It's funny how people respond to the grey too. I've had other women who don't know me tell me how I should dye my hair - angrily even.

6. Yeah, I've gotten the same semi/angry reactions too.

What's funny is the reaction does change in locations. I used to live in a very small ranching community in the mountains of Calif. The women (and men!) there wear the grey proudly, as they go about their business. Mucking stalls, scrapping cow shit off the boots, etc. That they are strong, active, real people is what makes them attractive to each other. Moved down off the mountain and lordy! I was shocked at just how many strangers took it upon themselves to give unsolicited 'advice' on covering the grey. And the occasional muted 'you're so brave to NOT color' - like it was so, I dunno, weird or rebellious?

Me? I think being comfortable in my own skin (and hair!) is the hallmark of feminism and maturity. I get that a politician has to go along to get along in the ageist and sexist climate we live in. But I do find it so odd that the supporters seem to have such an aversion to reality. It's not like we haven't all seen that she is aging like the rest of the population, so why try to act like she still looks to be in her 20s or 30s? It's silly.

As far as her supporters, made my comment further down.

It totally matches my favorite heather grey t-shirt I wear in the summer, and heather grey sweatshirt I wear in the winter

I still do, Bernie is not even that much older.
Also, I don't like Hillary, but I can respect her. She definitely knows how to play the game.

But that's why Bernie's going to win, we're tired of games.

Of course, WSYWYG was never how the Clintons roll.

So at least her fans are being consistent.

Unfortunately, light brown hair with some gray doesn't look distinguished--it just looks dirty. I'm betting that Jane uses something too--light brown hair just refuses to age gracefully. With dark hair, salt and pepper is a nice look, though.

I'm betting that blonde doesn't get gray nicely either, hence, whatever it is that Hillary is using.
