Bernie Sanders taps local musician to perform at campaign rally on his birthday

The Syracuse-based folk/hip-hop artist has been a vocal supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders for years. When Sanders decided to run for president, Driscoll threw himself deep into the local campaign.

“This is the first time ever there has been a presidential candidate so in tune with what I’m feeling,” said Driscoll, 37. “I’m the biggest Bernie freak I know.”

So Driscoll was floored when the Sanders campaign tapped him to play music at today’s Syracuse rally and say a few words before Sanders (and actress Rosario Dawson) take the stage at 2 p.m. at the Oncenter.

After all, today is also Driscoll’s birthday.
